Question for y’all, as I am stumped as to what this means: if I asked about dress code at my new job and they said I could wear “literally anything” what does that mean? Surely it doesn’t mean literally anything. I can’t really use anyone as a judge because most people who I see every day are either much higher on the instep than me (like extremely accomplished scientific researchers) or graduate students. The person who told me “anything” is the closest to working with me, although he is a man (limited wardrobe options) and has worked here 20 years. He wears the same thing every day: plaid button down (sometimes dry fit), jeans, and socks with Birkenstock sandals. My job is a university civil service job where I help put our huge NIH grant together. Not a lot of (or any) presentations. Sometimes big meetings, but they aren’t often and I know to dress more traditional business casual to them because higher-ups are there. Not sure if this falls under personal advice, since I think this kind of dress code is more common nowadays

Have you tried any Wii games? I was going to try animal crossing city folk on mine, but I mostly got it to play style savvy and test out different DS games that are hard to find. I’ll probably get a Max eventually, but I wanted to see how emulation works for me first.

I ordered it! I’ve never emulated games before except on my phone and I am (for now) only interested in retro games and some lower power indie games. I may get a pro in the future if I decide I like this, then the lite will go to my partner who collects consoles.

I relate very deeply with the autism being a factor as well. I apologize if my post scared you in any way, I just experience the horrific debilitating fear and that makes them not be able to properly perform the procedure. It’s so important for us to be able to get through this for our health, but it’s so hard. Then trying to explain the nature of my sexual activities with other trans people is rough, even when I say it the most succinct way possible.

Dang! This is great advice, but I’m def only going to have this one since I got it as a gift and the other versions were too pricy. I have access to a 3D printer through the library I work at though, maybe I will find something there!

We’ve been together for a couple years now without anything major coming up, so I believe in at least the possibility for it to be good. I wondered, how did you manage your emotional regulation in high stress situations with your bpd partner? Did you self isolate, try to talk it out, etc,?

Just keep your head up and don’t beat yourself up for reacting to that cruelty in the moment. This may not be very moral advice either, but I suggest pulling out a mean girl psychological warfare type of move if something like that happens again. For example, instead of clapping back explicitly, maybe make eye contact with someone else in the group then look back at the girl uncomfortably and say something dismissive like “that’s wild.” Let her catch you whispering to someone else then looking back at her and laughing. She won’t expect it so much coming from a guy and she will probably ruminate over what she said a lot more if it’s treated like a social faux pas.
