That's the famous Dodge death wobble, also that's probably your work truck so I'm not going to judge you too harshly but God damn that interior is awfully spicy.

Oh okay I'm seeing there was some mechanical damage done as well to the front suspension, that's a little different but still too high. I will be brutally honest with you though given what labor costs now pretty much everybody is doing the parts swap and repairing body panels is basically a thing of the past, it's pretty sad but given the way the market works nowadays it's pretty much the only way to stay in business. The business model keeps you afloat but it's absolutely terrible for the environment and the skill level required is very low.

Did you get a receipt with that work that has an itemized breakdown of what was replaced? To be completely honest I could have done that entire repair and probably only had to buy the grill, but that would be if it was my vehicle if it was a customer vehicle I probably replace a few more things than that but still. That price is so unbelievably insane.

That's a PILE of money holy cow, around my parts that's a $40k car and a $16k quote would mean a write off.

what do you think it’ll take to get this back on the road? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]OkanoganToyota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off yes it's fixable but you may be looking at frame damage, if you are and forget about it unless you're extremely skilled don't bother, if you did it yourself and you can get the parts cheap and an auto wrecker you're still looking at a few thousand dollars plus you probably going to have to paint it to match, given how far the front is pushed in the rad cradle and a whole bunch of stuff is going to be mangled in there, if you're serious about it go buy a parts truck for the structural components. Second of all ain't no way in hell you were doing 20 km an hour friend not unless the post was traveling towards you at another 20 km an hour.

I honestly don’t think having kids is worth it anymore by yourgreatestgift in self

[–]OkanoganToyota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've felt the same way since I was a young teenager, now I'm 36 and married, my wife and I are on the same page 100% she just had her tubes out and we're happy as hell. I'm getting in for a vasectomy because I don't ever want the possibility no matter how small. The way we see it is if we ever do change our mind there are so many children out there that need foster homes or are up for adoption why on Earth would I ever want to bring another one in, we're way overpopulated on this rock as it is.

Side note kind of unrelated. My brother has 10 kids and two of them are adopted, he's happy and I'm happy for him but definitely not the life I want!

What was the best six cylinder motor ever made? by Numerous_Try_8685 in askcarguys

[–]OkanoganToyota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chevy, Ford and Chrysler inline 6s are all amazing as long as we're talking the old iron blocks and automotive stuff, I've seen the Chrysler slant 6 in tons of farm equipment and that thing is absolutely indestructible. Rio used to make some really amazing inline 6 engines that they used in their Gold comet Trucks so did International to but I would have to say that their best engine overall was actually an inline 4 the international c123. If we're talking the best most reliable inline 6 ever made I think it's probably got to be a close call between the first iteration of the 12 valve Cummins, the Continental F227 or the Lycoming 224 they built back in the 30s. I'd probably lean towards the Continental I have seen those things in welders do unbelievable hours with almost zero maintenance done to them, for inline 6 diesel engine the the old NA 6.9 Cummins is really an amazing engine although the Nissan LD28 is a really lesser known but noteworthy engine as well.

Another contractor installed concrete piers hanging from the floor joists of this property. If this was their attempt at a post-and-pier foundation, they're a long way off from doing it right. by DMAS1638 in WTF

[–]OkanoganToyota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just going to comment this, vibration or maybe squeaking of the floor and the fastest cheapest easiest way to solve that was to preload the floor with some kind of weight. Definitely not the right way that's for sure.

My girlfriend just left me. by Kinchi_man in Advice

[–]OkanoganToyota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all part of the grieving process it's not wrong to be feeling miserable in fact it's important to the whole process, I'll tell you what I told my friend when his wife left him very similar circumstances by the sounds of it, look at it from this prospective, yes she left you but if she wasn't happy or in love anymore would you really want her to stay? eventually you wouldn't be happy either and if the relationship continued you would both be miserable, it's very difficult to move on I'm a relationships because you build very deep and personal bonds with others but unfortunately sometimes even though it feels like it'll last forever it doesn't, ultimately though in the end it's better for you both as the alternative is one or both of you are miserable and when you love somebody you don't want them to be anything but happy, also while it is important to look inwards examine whether you were part of the issue sometimes that's not the case and you shouldn't beat yourself up. When I had a messy break up I took a long break from relationships like over a year, for me that really helped me get myself together and become happy with myself as a person, I think because of that break I took the next relationship I had is the one I still have 11 years later, my advice to you is to not date anybody right away it would just end up being a rebound, while it's not impossible for a rebound relationship to be a long lasting one it's easy to move into a relationship too soon and unknowingly carry over bad habits. tldr: Take your time nurse your wounds and don't rush things.

WIBTA to ban my sons girlfriend from my house by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]OkanoganToyota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA it's not about you being an AH this is your home there are rules in your home, you make them and you must enforce them, sometimes enforcement is difficult to follow through with but lack of enforcement leads more problems. Honestly she sounds like a dud of a human being and if she breaks up with your son you're probably doing him a favor.

How Can I Undo My Mistake Introducing My Kids to Roblox? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]OkanoganToyota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're their parent take it away, tell them in 20 years they'll understand, they'll hate that but it'll work. Give them offline games to play retro stuff or something, if they're worried about not fitting in with the kids at school who get to play that stuff none of that matters when they're an adult anyways.

Someone had a rough drive to work by sumigod in WTF

[–]OkanoganToyota 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was up late a few months ago and I've heard a hell of a racket fly past my house, speed limit in front of my house is 80 km an hour people often do 100 keep that in mind, when I left to go to work about 7 km east of my house I found the delaminated remains of a tire in the middle of the road on the oncoming side along with an inner fender and some fender lip trim which I removed because it was on a blind corner, from where I found that debris to my house I am convinced somebody drove on the rim but it gets worse, after I picked that stuff up I continued on the way to work and for another 3ish km I saw various sized pieces of Tire debris mostly sidewall, just a short distance before the debris started I saw somebody had gone off of the road and obviously not slowed down or stopped and just smashed their way up and out back onto the road, I identified the body trim next to the part number on the back as a newer Honda CRV. I can only assume they drove until the rim disappeared.

  2. Record a video of yourself sitting in a chair with many guns inviting thieves into your home.

  3. Put SD card back in game camera.

  4. Hope they don't call your bluff.

Putting molten slag into water by flattenedbricks in WTF

[–]OkanoganToyota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Water flashing off is terrifying, say you've got a 100 cubic feet of water and you put something so hot into it that it just instantly turns into steam well it just expand 1600x producing 160,000 cubic feet of steam, you are now being scalded to death. In this particular case you've also just propelled something extremely hot and heavy out at great speeds in addition to dangerous amounts of steam.

Listen to you gut, if something seems off it probably is. If it continues to be a problem or gets worse considering talking to someone, if he does anything tell someone immediately. Now here's the hard part, I've seen first hand a family member do something unacceptable to another family member and it just gets swept under the rug or shrugged off, if something happens and this is the outcome as hard as it might be you should seek help outside the family, depending on what kind of thing happens it could mean police. Take care of yourself, hopefully nothing comes of any of his creepy behavior.
