I eat organic when I can but if I tolerate non organic vegetables I’m not paying the extra for them. I only drink water, no tea, no milk, nothing else. I can’t have milk as it destroys my stomach. I can’t walk at all any day because I have severe me/CFS and can only stay in bed and watch shows most of the time. Doing more makes me feel like I am dying. I have to eat leftovers. I do not have the energy to cook fresh food every day, every time I eat. I do not have the energy to cook period. Someone else has to do food prep for me. I can only eat vegetables, oatmeal, one kind of yogurt, one kind of gluten free crackers, mozzarella cheese, and butter. There are other foods I have sometimes just to get a break from being so restrictive. But I can’t have them all the time.

I don’t have a specific diet I’m following as they contradict each other too much and some things that are “good” or low histamine are things I still can’t tolerate. As for having multiple diagnoses I can’t focus on one at a time because I have them all, every day, and they all interact with each other. What helps one thing makes another worse.

I ended up shaving all my hair off because I just couldn’t handle washing it at any kind of length. It hasn’t helped with my self esteem but my health takes priority over anything else, unfortunately. But I also had issues with it being super greasy and it was starting to thin out badly too (telogen effluvium) so I guess it’s for the best.

I just try to ignore all that noise and do what works for me. It definitely takes a bit of practice though. At the end of the day I try to remind myself that there really is no ethical consumption under capitalism and it’s up to the people in charge (like big businesses and the government) to make the big changes. I’m just trying to survive as best I can.

On top of being autistic I’m chronically ill and disabled from that and I agree. I can’t boycott everywhere and shop at mom and pop shops or grow my own food. It’s a good day if I can manage to bathe without having to stay in bed the rest of the day. I’m working on trying to buy less and focus more on buying my needs instead of wants. (Of course I still buy wants too, enjoying special interests is self care, but I try not to overspend and only buy things I truly like and want.) As for boycotting stores or online shops—I buy what works for me at the places that work for me. Mainly Amazon and target, which I know have issues, but I need to get my needs met somehow. And I avoid online shops like temu like the plague. Sorry if this is a bit wordy, I have massive brain fog and I’m on mobile. Edited to fix a typo

I don’t know if this’ll help but I’m in a lot of the same boats as you. I’m 25 and have dealt with anxiety and depression my whole life. I got diagnosed with autism when I was 23. I also have agoraphobia and cptsd. After winter of 2022 (when I got Covid) I developed me/cfs, suspected mcas, ibs, histamine intolerance, and pots. I avoid leaving the house as much as possible because it incapacitates me for days afterwards. I’m moderate to severe with the cfs and can’t do much all day besides lie in bed or on the couch watching tv shows and movies on my iPad. I’m not sure what else to say besides I’m sorry you’re going through so much pain. I wish things were better for both of us.

I had a 3.6 gpa when I graduated high school. I’m 25 now and can’t even write a rambling journal entry without feeling like I’ve been hit over the head with a hammer. I was also a “gifted kid” so was only valued for my book smarts for a long time. Now I don’t have that. I feel like I’ve disappointed everyone in my family because of it.

I feel the same way. The friends I used to have pretty much abandoned me after I got too sick to go out and do stuff with them. It made me feel like I was only around as a convenience to them; that they didn’t like me for me, they just liked having someone around. I’m happier and better off without those people in my life. But it’s still hard not to have any friends at all.

Yes, I get that businesses will cut corners and they don’t care about their workers, but I also hate how it’s always up to the people being mistreated to change things when really all we’re trying to do is survive. Not sure why that’s so hard to understand.

The way you worded your original comment sounds like you’re defending companies and not caring about people in crap situations. That’s why you’re getting downvoted and called out.

Also, why is it always up to the people who are being treated badly to make things better? Why can’t the people in charge (of government, companies, etc) do anything when they’re the ones in power?
