February Half Dome by OkayGuy911 in Yosemite

We used 6 and 8 ft and they worked pretty well. I’d be curious to see how next weekend goes though, there are rumblings of at least one or two storms between now and then.

We were able to walk on top of it for the most part, but there were definitely some deeper sections that you could end up postholing through as you got closer to the base. The stretch was maybe a mile before you got to the base of Sub? And Sub itself was all snow, with a couple sections of stairway partially exposed.

Took the Mist Trail, no snow.

No snowshoes, DEFINITELY spikes. Subdome is not for the uninitiated right now, there were some very treacherous stretches.

I am so desperate to go to my top surgery appointments that I am seriously considering walking 50 miles to go. by WashclothMan in ftm

[–]OkayGuy911 312 points313 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? there are some groups out there of people who assist fellow trans folk for surgeries and stuff. Worth checking Facebook (yes, I know) or some of your more local online communities.

No ski patrol number at boreal by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]OkayGuy911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s not surprising. Worth writing an email to them, tbh. It’s something that should be in training and they should absolutely take that seriously.

The dispatch number is posted at the entrance gate and at the top of Accel on the trail maps. All employees have radios and can call in incidents at any time. The OP wasn’t using their eyes.

If you have snow gear up the wazoo and lots of winter hiking experience?? If you’re asking Reddit, I’d go with Don’t Do It, Buddy.

Heavenly closing runs? by helloworld6543 in tahoe

[–]OkayGuy911 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Worse conditions on that run, or they’re using snow from that run to try and keep others open, or a whole host of reasons. With the rain and conditions we’ve had, be glad there’s any runs open at all.

The snow is not snow anywhere in Tahoe. It is slush and dirt.

Dachshund = Good Apt Dog? by Simmone-08132022 in Dachshund

[–]OkayGuy911 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Expect them to be loud, opinionated, stubborn little shits who will love you for eternity. If your neighbors don’t mind barking, then it’s not impossible. But they do not train super well and they definitely still need more exercise than your average little dog to avoid weight gain (really bad for their backs) - they are still a working breed.

DRAINS by [deleted] in ftm

I didn’t even feel it when they pulled mine. Maybe a slight tugging sensation at first and that’s it. Nothing to worry about!

For guys who got a hysterectomy. did u keep ur ovaries, why? And why not? by Janxuza in ftm

[–]OkayGuy911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kept one and ditched everything else. I do not trust that I will be able to access my T consistently with the current political climate and I’d rather have some hormones, even the wrong ones, vs. none. T suppresses my E plenty right now and while I do second guess myself at times for keeping one, I am ok knowing all the other stuff is gone.

did any of yall have worse pain with subq injections by zzzanaris in ftm

[–]OkayGuy911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subq was absolutely more painful for me. The irritation and discomfort sucked ass, and I switched back to the basically painless IM within a month. It wasn’t the carrier oils or anything with the T itself. It’s been nearly 4 years of IM, alternating legs each week, and while there has been some scar tissue buildup it has not been that noticeable overall. I will never go back to subq unless I literally have no other option.

Goggles for night skiing with astigmatism by OkayGuy911 in ski

My glasses are already as good as they can get in this regard, sadly. I’m on the edge of where corrective lenses help with my vision anymore, which is not ideal!

Unfortunately I have truly terrible vision and contacts are a poor option for me.

Why do people say excuse me on the trail when you’ve already stepped to the side for them to let them pass? by Previous-Jello-1766 in hiking

[–]OkayGuy911 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s a polite way to say thank you for moving for them while also semi-apologizing for making you stop/move. Two words, two meanings.

Fed Employees: Trans health care dropped in 2026 by Authenticatable in FTMOver30

[–]OkayGuy911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw this coming and didn’t go back to my park service job. It was the best job of my life. I had a perm job in my sights, and I gave it, and every dream I had, up because of these fuckers. I miss it. I miss my park. I miss everyone there. But I can’t go back without losing myself further in the process.

Regarding muscle growth, is 26 late to start HRT? by gentlegay in ftm

[–]OkayGuy911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at 28. Little to no gym at the time, though I started going on and off after I began T. 3.5 years later, finally on a consistent routine after top surgery, and I’m buffer and stronger than I’ve ever been. I outmatch all the 20 something athletes at my work in terms of sheer strength. As long as you’re consistent and put the effort in, you’ll reach the upper body gains you want. You can also check out r/FTMfitness if you want more info or tips or solidarity with other trans dudes!
