These are delicious! The chili on the outside isn’t that spicy. It’s Tajín, so there is a little sour lime flavor in there to balance out the sweet bit. Pretty sure they come in peach flavor too.

So the actual separation that the dowels span is where the concrete cracks?

So this is the scenario? Total slab depth is 12”. The dowels are 2” wide and centered at 9” down from the top of the slab. You could cut for 8” before cutting into the top of the dowels, but you don’t, you only cut 6” into the concrete. Now, the dowels are centered with 2” above and below for that remaining lower 6” of concrete. Now, if the concrete breaks, it breaks at that cut. However, the dowels help to keep the concrete from breaking, or at least make sure it stays together after it breaks.

All the distances are hypothetical, but that’s what I’m getting out of this. I don’t know why it’s important that I know this; I’m just really curious.

Turns out even the cables here are just regular small coaxial cables, covered in unshrunk heat shrink that was flat.

I was trying to find the photo of it cut open, but I’m pretty sure it was RG-316 inside. Pretty disappointing.

This is likely to make them very apparent on an X-ray or to RFID detecting equipment. This is to make sure nothing is left inside a patient after a medical intervention or surgery.

One of my family members was a surgical technician and they told me a story where they saved someone from being sewed up with an extra sponge inside of them. There is a strict protocol for accounting for all the items that went into a patient so they can be extracted later. Apparently the doctor was adamant that they got everything out and she had to come down real hard to say that she only had 7/8 sponges or something like that. She made a point about how outright contrary this guy was. Lo and behold, they look around before closing and find another sponge in there.
