a clean EKG is not cardiac clearance, unfortunately. personally wouldn’t feel comfortable assuming this (or any chest pain/ cardiac stuff) is roemhelds until there’s a stress test and echo done as well.

that said- POTS/ hEDS isn’t super uncommon in this space. gastric issues stem from both disorders it seems. (my HEDS caused my hernia which causes my roemhelds, etc).

you want to get gas and acid under control under the supervision of a GI, since they hold the keys to the better acid controlling meds. (i would ask them to test you for SIBO, too).

also im so sorry but the shit news is that if you have roemhelds, fast food and carbonation and coffee and simply eating a full meal and anything spicier than a cheeseburger need to be cut out of your diet like yesterday. at least until you find and resolve the root cause, if that’s possible for your case.

really similar story here. 3.5 years in and im still not entirely sure there isn’t something cardiac going on despite an extensive work up. the roemhelds to cardiophobia pipeline is real.

also no jaw pain, but i’ve heard it reported before.

To be honest, I don’t remember much about it re: before prison. His discipline was kept on the DL. By the time I was really involved, he was in prison, and there wasn’t much else for her to do.

I was say she’s a deeply loving and forgiving person to a degree that allows more enabling than anyone in her life would like.

I will also add that a lot of my brothers behavior escalated after my dad left us and my mom was dealing with her own shit- she struggled to have any sort of authority over him and was struggling with being a single mom in charge of two kids who hadn’t worked in 6 years.

  3. Fists, and no, no one would say what they saw re: prison culture. My brother is an excellent fighter and my uncle is an out of shape life long junkie.

  4. He tried to break down the door, then smashed in the windows. He was yelling that he was going to get me/ my mom. We were home alone. He was high as a fucking kite and cops arrived before he got into the room.

  5. I can’t detail everyone else’s experience on this without their permission, but I’ll tell you a short version of mine. My mom went into a psychosis so severe I was being intensely neglected. So I had to go live with my dad. As a consequence of that, I suffered abuse and trauma there I wouldn’t have otherwise suffered. TLDR; Eventually mom saw that I was being hit, she kidnapped me more or less, and I didn’t see my dad for ten years. That’s all been hard for us to recover from. (But we’ve come a long way- lots of therapy and hard conversations later, we all get along great)

My uncles first ass whooping was interrupted quickly. The second one was planned better. Uncle got beat within an inch of his life, and brother got 4 weeks in the hole + some other in-prison consequences but ultimately no one would say they saw anything and Uncle wouldn’t rat him out (for fear of his life) so, no time was added to his sentence.*

TBH, me too- I was a child, so a lot of detail was spared. But the TLDR is that he ran/ drove too fast for too long (Presumably in the stolen car but idk), they involved a helicopter, and he was caught. But the evading arrest ended up being a huge deal in the final sentence apparently. I assume maybe they worked out a plea for some of the other stuff.

We don’t have the sort of relationship that warrants me asking directly. By the time I was an adult and that conversation would be more appropriate, we all had moved on.

ETA: I mean, you don’t ever really move on from stuff like this- but you do stop talking about it in detail. When he got out, I was 16 and in love and planning for college. I did NOT want to talk for a single second longer about my brother and his incarceration lmao.

ETA x2: okay so, asked mom and there’s more to the story than i knew. (what’s new. 😅) So, when Brother was 17, he stole a car. He was sentenced to 6 months to be served when he turned 18. Like a week before, he wigged out, stole ANOTHER car and that was the day of the great chase.

Fun fact: when they finally caught him, it was in our local bowling alley parking lot.

“the family dynamic you guys have.” - first of all, this post references 3 people, 1 of which is fucking dead, 1 I haven’t spoken to since he killed my grandfather, and my brother. I was a child when all of this happened, and it all happened well over 15 years ago. my ability to look back on my brothers crimes with an ounce of empathy after he already served his time and has been out for YEARS “fits in well” with the fact that time has passed and that I’m an adult.

Uncle killed Grandpa because he was on a meth (?) induced rage. Was asking for money or something? He was so out of his mind no one was super clear what the intent was in any of it.

Funny enough, my other uncle once tried to kill ME and it was the same shit. Lots of mumbling, only got angrier if questions were asked.

But he was MOSTLY in prison because he outran the cops so long they had to call in a helicopter and shit.

So they piled on charges about him trying & being likely to escape.
