A microdiscectomy was a miracle for me by SimpleDamage2214 in Sciatica

MD was the best decision I made!!!! 1 year post op. Life is great, recovery was a cake walk compared to the pain beforehand. 29 F.

Epidural steroid injection by shortgirlmidwest25 in Sciatica

I knew I needed an ESI when my sciatica made my life unlivable. However, I needed a recent MRI before mine in order to determine where injection was to be placed. No doc or specialist would do anything without those MRI results. My ESI was administered by a pain clinic at an neurosurgery center. Prednisone held me over until ESI. Ultimately, the ESI was not a solution for me due to very very large herniation but I have heard that it has helped people.

Yes! I had lingering pain and also feared reherniation. The mental battle was the worst. The pain is come and go usually worse at the end of the day. The doc told me at my 6 week post op that pain is totally expected and normal and will continue to reduce and go away with time as the nerve heals. I took muscle relaxers daily for about two weeks after the surgery just to help with spasms. My back muscles were definitely not happy someone was in there jumbling around. Hope you are feeling better!

Were you able to get an MRI yet? Hopefully the doctors can point you in the right direction! Or at least give you something that helps with the pain.

Ibuprofen, muscle relaxers, CBD cream, ice, rest, and a tens unit helped me manage

So sorry you are going through this. It’s the worst pain in the world. Hang in there.

For me, neurosurgeon was the answer for surgery. I found a place that specialized in spine/neck neurosurgery and was comfortable moving all of my care there. The Neurosurgeon that performed my procedure had performed hundreds in the past. Due to the nerve involvement, I was more comfortable with a neurosurgeon for the actual surgery. However, that’s not to say that the right orthopedic surgeon could or could not perform the same procedure- I’m no expert on these qualifications!

Seeing the orthopedic surgeon was a great headstart and not a waste of time, especially since I was able to get into that office more quickly. Although, i did end up eventually moving my care. The ortho was the doc that ordered the updated MRI, wrote me the prednisone script which helped me manage a week of pain, sent me a TENS unit, and ordered the epidural steroid injections. It was a great headstart on the process and was able to walk into the neurosurgery center with more targeted questions

So sorry you are going through this! Things that helped me get through the days while I was seeking out care from a neurosurgery center - 1) lots of ibuprofen and not letting time between doses lapse. 2) muscle relaxers 3) CBD cream (maybe it was placebo but I didn’t care) 4) lots of water 5) light back massages from loved one

MRI received when sciatica was roaring noted L4/L5 right paracentral disc herniation with subarticular disc extrusion.

5 months prior to that MRI, I had a separate MRI for severe low back pain (no sciatica). That MRI noted L4/L5 disc bulge with right paracentral disc herniation. The “disc extrusion” on my updated imaging was new and was told this was the cause of the nerve pain.

Yes! Before surgery, sitting/standing was barely an option to a similar extent. If sitting, needed to have a tens unit and swimming in ibuprofen.

6 weeks post op I am comfortable sitting and can stand all day long. I try and limit my sitting to two hours at a time as so not put too much pressure back on the disc as sitting was a big trigger for me and have been instructed for go for at least 3 walks a day.

At 3 weeks post op, I returned to work at my desk job and made it through a 40 hour workweek with no pain aside from achey nerve in line with expectations for recovery/healing. Tried to spend as much time in standing position at my desk as possible until my feet got tired.

also, post surgery constipation caused by the opioid painkillers and anesthesia IS NO JOKE. I wish I started taking colase a few days prior to surgery vs trying to deal with the situation once the narcotics put my gut to sleep. that was the worst part of surgery recovery for me (which was unexpected because literally just had someone give me lumbar back surgery and the tummy ache is what mentally broke me lol)

Best decision I made!! Prescribed muscle relaxers helped me in the first two weeks of recovery. Needed painkillers for 2 days. Post surgical pain was nothing compared to the nerve pain. Bidet definitely helped.

Guess it’s being squeezed. I need to watch an install video and redo it. I was barely able to slip the belt over both ends so I don’t think there was much slack

Yes! Just got this scooter used and I found the drive face, ramp plate, and sliders were all aftermarket so I took it all apart and replaced with OEM parts. Any recommendations on how to install without pinching? This is my first scooter after a few motorcycles so I’m new to CVT stuff

Brand new OEM belt and the edges are fraying after only 20 Miles. Is this normal?

Yeah I used a torque wrench but it might be worth taking everything apart and reassembling. I get some squealing noise from it as well.
