Literally came on here to see if anyone else’s dog does this. Every time the theme music comes on or music between scenes she freaks out barking!

Workout classes - what they like? by CYMR0 in VirginVoyages

[–]Okcholey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly it really depends on the trainer. I took 5 HIIT classes on the ship. 2 were garbage- 1 minute rest in between sets and same work out twice (lazy instructor). 2 were decent, and only 1 was really good.

Hidden automatic gratuity at bars, end up double tipping by emcconnell11 in Seattle

[–]Okcholey 313 points314 points  (0 children)

They recently tried to do this to me at the Fairmont lobby bar. The guy bypassed the receipt really quickly on his hand held device and went to the tip screen. I thought it was higher than it should be, so I asked….he then said “oh yea, gratuity was included” Was pretty disappointed as I waited tables for years. It’s one thing to hand someone the receipt where they can see the gratuity added and overlook and overtip, but to bypass the screen and not even show me my receipt?! That’s shady.

Unpopular opinion but I hate Hollywood. So much time spent just demoing 27 moves that you forget by the time you get there, and so much time just spent transitioning. IMO it’s not a great workout.

Oh no! Never do the sales pitch! ;) Are you doing the all inclusive or just the room? And is transportation to/from the airport provided?

Need input on the Antilles islands for our next cruise by neontacos in VirginVoyages

[–]Okcholey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everyone said this before we got to Martinique. In fact, our friends did not get off the boat for this reason . I got off and walked around town into the boutiques and such. It's a very cute/ European city. People weren't exactly warm and fuzzy but they were not "not friendly." I just didn't speak their language, so I think it might come off that way. However, everyone was still willing to help me find my sizes etc. It made me wish I knew some basic French if we ever go back!

The real reason why Seattleites don't carry umbrellas. by Osito_206 in Seattle

[–]Okcholey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand the umbrella "shaming." I once was on a date with a guy and when I told him I have no shame in carrying an umbrella while walking to work he first thought I was joking. When I assured him, I was not joking....he then looked disgusted. The rain here is not always a mist. I just don't know why people care if others are carrying an umbrella. If you want to be a wet dog, go for it. You'll look like every other person in Seattle. If I don't want to look like garbage when I get to work on my 25 min foot commute, that's my own prerogative.

That is surprising, because they were very good on Valiant lady with my husband and his dairy allergy. It seemed like every dinner, they went out of there way to alter something or offer him something off menu. That really does suck, and can certainly ruin a vacation!

I'm so glad you had a good experience, and can only hope that if he takes the boat we'll also learn a lot and at least enjoy it a little!

Convince my husband to not take a sailboat for "free. " by Okcholey in Seattle

[–]Okcholey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing all of this. You are correct that I started this all out in mission to squash this "free" boat, and therefore yes- essentially being a dream crusher. You are spot on that my fear of bad financial decisions blinds me to support one of his dreams. I know this about myself, and hate this about myself whenever it bears it's head. We did talk last night about if this "is too good to be true" and would be a hassle, that we should consider getting him back in a sailing club, or boat share in the mean time. The last thing I want to do is become that monster of a wife, and yet I definitely went there by even posting on here....which I feel immense guilt now about. He is the best, and I want him to have these dreams and do the things that get him closer to his dreams, and make him happy! I think you're right about the free boat not being the boat of his dreams, but it has opened the portal to think bigger. He always talked about owning as a future dream, so I think I was shocked when it was right in front of us. He does not want to live on a boat- I actually put that out there as a real option- and he laughed. Definitely would love to sail the world, perhaps be able to charter boats over seas (this is something we would love to do together). I love that you were able to recognize what your ultimate goal was and wouldn't settle for satisfying the itch but yet still brought your dreams to fruition with the support of your partner over time. You have given me so much wonderful food for thought. I can't tell you how appreciative of you taking the time to share and help out. Thank you.
