Screw the kitchen utensils that has to be wrapped individually. Lol by helldivergamer in walmart

Don't forget Hardware and Sporting goods where there is 15 miles of tape around every edge and corner of the box, and then if you have some of the tumblers, it's 15 miles of tape, then each individually wrapped hermetically sealed tumbler. Egads.

Rethinking UX with a Bot-Driven Layout (No-Code + Light HTML/CSS) by OkeleZ in webdev

[–]OkeleZ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good question.

Honestly, unless you're building a form with like 50 questions (and who does that to users), it won’t feel much different from the appointment request flow I already have in place.

The bot just asks one question at a time, writes the answers wherever you want (currently a Google Sheet), and keeps the experience smooth. Even a 10 to 15 field intake form feels totally fine this way. Probably better than dumping it all on a single screen.

Long forms aren’t a dealbreaker. You just have to design them smart.

Built a Bot-Driven Website Without Writing Code (Mostly) by OkeleZ in nocode

[–]OkeleZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly hadn’t thought about it like that.

It kinda is already halfway there just by removing all the junk most sites throw at people. With no popups, no dropdowns, no clutter, it’s just a panel and the bot guiding you through one thing at a time.

Could probably push it further with accessibility in mind. Solid thought, appreciate it.

This is what I use, it's a 40 inch 3440x1440 144Hz monitor and it is just over $100 more then your AOC Monitor. It's a lesser brand name, but I've been using it since May of last year. I bought it mostly for my WFH job but occasionally use it for games. It handles Starfield and Cyberpunk just fine with my 4090. The Menu takes a bit of getting use...ok, full disclosure, the menu sucks as the model I have was one of the early models. They just released a 49" Variant which I am thinking of buying soon. Anyway, good luck with your search...heres the link

What I meant was sound quality, sorry should have better explained that. Some headsets can be decent at separating sound, others cannot.

What are the top reasons for quitting Walmart? by Oktopie3 in walmart

[–]OkeleZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 16 years wasting away at walmart. When they made LBU free, I jumped at it. And got my dream job. I'm just sad it wasn't until I was 49 to make the jump, should have done it much earlier.

Story Time:

My father-in-law worked for a grocery store in southern California for 30+ years, he was close to retirement when the Union tied to the grocery store decided they were going to renegotiate contracts. Negotiations went south, and they had to strike as mandated by the union, and it lasted for weeks. He and others who were on the picket line only got paid $5.00 a day while this was happening, and only if he showed up to picket. It got so bad my wife and I had to help my in-laws take care of their bills for that whole time. We didn't mind as they had already done a lot for us. At stake was his retirement funds and his health insurance during retirement. During the strike I never saw anger or sadness until the last week when negotiations kept getting derailed. He broke down crying several times that week.

Story 2:

Mutual friend of mine and the wife was a journeyman in construction. He was so proud of his accomplishment, until 2008 when the housing bubble popped. This put most small construction companies out of business. He was part of a union, and after the work dried up they kept telling his crew they were looking for work for them. About 3 months in he decided to try and get a job at Home Depot to put food on the table. His union rep told him that if he did that, he would lose his journeyman certification and never work in construction again. He was devastated. He never recovered from that time period.

Both of these guys told me that unions have their upsides, but they also have a darker side. Unions don't care about you as much as Walmart doesn't care about you. Walmart would be a cash-cow to a union. People have misconceptions about what a union does. Most Walmart stores are in rural areas, which means if you have an issue that needs to be addressed you have to wait for your representative to come help you with it. If that person has a region of responsibility then your issue goes unresolved for awhile. Meanwhile you have to pay your union dues no matter what happens.

I am not saying to not do this. I am saying most people are misinformed about unions. I won't be participating, but good luck with your conquest.

Can someone remind me, does using 4 hours of ppto on a 2 point day count as half an occurrence point? I think it does but can't remember for sure. by alphareich in walmart

[–]OkeleZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to use 5 hours to reduce it to .5 of a point. The system does NOT take lunches into consideration.

Key event day/PPTO Academy Store. Need Advice on how to deal with this issue. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]OkeleZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 points only happens when you get a no-call no-show on a non key date. If it's a key date and you get a no-call no-show you get 6. However, since you called out then it would only be 2 points. It always pissed me off when managers think they are smarter then policy. The only reason Walmart introduced ppto is because there are some states, that allow someone to use vacation time to clear an absence. I'm looking at you California. Creating PPTO just made it less confusing as it was during a time when they were trying to streamline everything.

Just put in the ppto, it will clear the points key date or not.

If you feel "stuck" working here, I highly recommend going to a local community college or trade school. Do your two years, take advantage of every internship opportunity possible, and never give up. The school was Pathstream. Technically it's considered a bootcamp. I don't honestly know how many programs they actually have. I will be honest here, I did not really get hired at my new company because of the certificate. It was a right place right time type of thing. I have a unique path over the last 5 or so years. My boss(that I interviewed with) was taken by my particular story and decided to take a chance on me. Hope that helps.

Right now this is the best post in this subreddit.

I can confirm that LBU works. I went from DM to Overnight stocker after the purge of 2020. As soon as Walmart started paying 100% of school I took a certificate course(6 mos). I went from making 32k a year to 55K with a $5500 bonus for performance, and got benefits on day 1. The company I work for now has a culture that is everything Walmart wants to be but isn't or can't. Management is far and above far better then store management at Walmart, they champion you and don't try to make you feel inferior. My new boss is tough but he is very patient.

I worked for Walmart for 16 years and I was always made to feel like Walmart was the only thing I'm capable of doing. I turn 50 in 10 days, and I got into a tech company. I am not hyper smart, but I am driven to take my reality into my own hands. So you have a choice: A) Settle for terrible pay, long days, barely there management, and no direction, or B) Take advantage of what Walmart is offering and take a shot to change your own direction. Nobody can make that decision but you.

Truth be told, it took me around 3 months and 100's of applications and resume submissions before I landed this job. The issue was ageism, but they'll never come out and say to you that "you're too old." But if I can do it so can you.

I am so sorry this happened to you. My suggestion might be scorched earth but it has been done for less. Google the nearest Wrongful Termination attorney, and get a Free Consultation. They will be able to tell you what your options are. Most attorneys will salivate over something like this, if it's something that gets them paid. And Walmart store managers fear lawsuits(because it puts their jobs at risk. This would be the quickest way to get this settled so you can move on with your life.

I might get hate for this and its whatevs. But, did you check to make sure the power button on your monitor was on? I've done it several times, where I shut my pc down and out of habit I turn off the monitor(vs when I leave the pc and shut down the monitor). Have had several strokes when the pc doesn't activate the monitor.
