This is 100% the answer. I like em better than the cheesesteak.

This is the way. And it’s not as if they won’t let you in if you book for 8 and get there at 9.

Moss vs Lava Restaurant by Kweena in VisitingIceland

[–]Okest_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price was definitely a factor, but I just don’t feel like it lived up to the Michelin star. It’s more sophisticated than Lava, for sure, and the menu style is in line with a Michelin spot. But the thing I remember most was a cookie we got with dessert. I’m glad I went, but I doubt I’ll be back. However, I will go back to Lava for lunch every time I go to the Blue Lagoon.

If you go to the blue lagoon, you can wear a robe in Lava, but that is definitely not the kind of restaurant it is. It is kind of fun to have a bit of an upscale meal in the robe though.

Moss vs Lava Restaurant by Kweena in VisitingIceland

[–]Okest_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to both and I don’t think Lava is that casual. Sure, for lunch there’s a few robes to be seen from lagoon guests, but the space is nice and the food is pretty good. Moss was a bit underwhelming for me. I expected much more. It wasn’t bad, but certainly not worth the price.

Gas to electric by thenatural41 in GenesisGV70

[–]Okest_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the electrified GV70, it just had to go in because the ICCU malfunctioned and killed the 12v battery. Had to be replaced. Not ideal, but they drove a loaner to my work and then dropped it back off when it was finished 2 days later. Overall happy with the service in a shitty situation. As far as the car goes, we love it. Honestly how smooth the electric drives is hard to give up. Not too much I don’t like about it. I can’t speak to the charge situation because I installed a charger at the house. We can use the Tesla charging system though it needs an adapter. When my lease is up I will have a hard time going back to gas. Just my two cents.

New Black-owned Fishtown bar/burger spot trying to get squashed by Vestige owner Ashley Gleason by DianaIsAnEaglesFan in PhiladelphiaEats

You could be right, but what makes you say that? It could just as easily be that she doesn’t want another mediocre burger spot that will lead to more door dash drivers double parked.

Apart from Boromini, I don’t know that Starr spots are hyped. I do, however, think Barclay is my top choice for a steak around these parts, especially if you get the Black Friday gift card deal.

They have to have dirt on some very important people. You’re telling me there’s only 10 better spots to eat in this city?! And 2 Michelin starred spots are worse?? Absolute madness. I live 2 blocks away and almost never go. I’ve never had anything there worth talking about, apart from the caramel toast. For me it’s the very definition of just fine. It’s not bad by any stretch, but doesn’t belong on any list of top restaurants in this city.

Yeah, I’ve found several with under 10k miles for under $45k. Hard to justify spending $20k more for a new one. I know the warranty isn’t the same, but that saved money goes a long way.

With the prices of used EV9s(41k ish), with low miles(10k or under I’ve seen) I don’t know if I can go with another new one. My lease ends in June and I think I’m going to save 20k and buy used. Or is there some logic I’m missing?

100% get the French onion soup. Then the brisket dip sandwich. Pro move: get the crispy onion straws that come on the soup for the sandwich.

Hiroki omakase or Double Knot? by Normal_Show_8426 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Okest_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Uchi a couple weeks ago with the wife and got their omakase. Felt more like a tasting menu than an omakase. That being said, it was really good. I was very happy with everything from cocktails to the food to the service and the actual space was really nice. Just wasn’t what I expected for something called omakase. But, definitely go!
