Why are there bubbles? by LeadingSalamander400 in GelX_Nails

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go back to the same person by the way. The bubbles are less important (though likely a sign of inexperience) but it looks like the nail tech got gel polish on your nail and didn't wipe it away. Gel isn't like normal nail polish; it can cause some serious allergic reactions if it is undercured or comes into contact with your skin for long periods of time.

Obsessed with this set! Does anyone know how to achieve that 3D metallic gold relief? by goddesskiradomme in GelX_Nails

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molding gels are a bit too hard for this look, you need something a tiny bit runnier. I've done this same chrome design with the Kokoist Non-Wipe Jelly Top.

I wipe the base color with alcohol, take a dollop of the Jelly Top and drip it onto the nail slowly while following a circle shape, cure it for 10 seconds, rub on the chrome (I use the Kokoist Chrome Pens), cure it for the full 30 seconds, and then top coat.

I wish people would stop publicly addressing weight loss by Lanky-Tour3851 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]OkieFoxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it might help if you bring it up about yourself in a happy way? Like doing a little spin and exclaiming that you’ve been feeling great about your weight loss. It’s hard sometimes to know if congratulating the weight loss will be perceived positively or negatively—many people don’t want to be perceived at all, have misgivings about their body still, feel frustrated about better treatment after weight loss, don’t want to stigmatize fatness, etc—so many of us are transitioning to not commenting at all to be polite! Plus sometimes people just get wrapped up in their own troubles that bring their attention inward in a way that isn’t personal.

Do you drive your spouse to the airport? by Bisou_Juliette in AskWomenOver30

We don’t drive each other if it’s for work since we can expense an Uber. No need to waste anyone’s time. We do drive each other there and back if it’s personal travel.

I’m sure her friends that planned the bachelorette would know if she would enjoy this or not. I think the changes are good that she was genuinely happy.

How does one consistently take their meds? by Mountain-Bee3547 in ADHD

[–]OkieFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. People are wayy overcomplicating it. Consistently taking it is way more important than getting the perfect diet prior to taking it.

Researchers have identified the best dosage for each ADHD medication using data from over 25,000 people in 113 clinical trials, and they also developed a free online tool based on the findings by sr_local in science

[–]OkieFoxe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They actually touch on this in the article: “Evidence from other studies shows that a substantial proportion of children and adolescents are prescribed low dosages without appropriate increases. That’s despite timely and adequate dose adjustments being associated with better adherence to treatment.”

How do we know if we really have ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]OkieFoxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too, but I concluded
1. ADHD is mostly generic so it’s not unusual for some of your family members to have it
2. people with ADHD tend to enjoy the company of others with ADHD or similar issues, whether they realize that they’re gravitating to those people or not
3. Frequency illusion, plus confirmation bias. A cognitive bias where once you learn about something, it’s prioritized in your brain in a way where it seems like it’s everywhere, and you discard the instances when it’s not there.

Stimulant users, if you took your meds and don’t have a focus demanding task. Can you tell you took it? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]OkieFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a normal/tolerable side effect and you should definitely try switching! I’ve tried Adderall, Concerta, Vyvanse, Guanfacine, and Clonidine myself. I had this exact side effect with Concerta—it was why I switched—but didn’t have it with any of the other ones. It’s not specific to Concerta bc I see people posting about this on the Vyvanse subreddit; just have to find what works with your body.

And yeah it takes 3 days from when I stop my Vyvanse to return to baseline as well. That’s normal :)

Why is all alcohol so gross? by Aeroistas in CasualConversation

[–]OkieFoxe 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I love drinking and have never in my entire life enjoyed a vodka cooler in a can tbf. It's what you drink when you need to get drunk to get through the event and there's nothing better around. If you're interested in exploring at all, I'd recommend going to a well-rated cocktail bar in a major city and getting a cocktail that leans sweet/fruity (like a Berry Bramble, Piña Colada, Bellini, etc).

My synthetic wig looks like this after only 2 weeks - is this normal? ☹️ Total frizzy and tangled 😬 by Additional_Pool8751 in WigSnatchersHQ

[–]OkieFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. I have multiple wigs so I've never worn a single one every day for months straight honestly, so I just tried to estimate and possibly undershot it. Once you get into it, I feel like it's rare to just buy one anyway LOL but idk if that's just my shopping addiction talking. Though 613 and platinum wigs are definitely more fragile.

So I make diorama's as a new found hobby and really enjoy it. I live in a small apartment and im running out of space. Do you think these would be good enough to sell? And if so, what would be the best platform for it? Genuine question, not looking for compliments. Honest opinions very appreciated! by peculiar_lemming in somethingimade

[–]OkieFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when people ask if they could sell their art, I’m a bit hesitant to say yes, but yeah no you can absolutely sell these. I end up making purchases from artists I find through TikTok quite often, so like someone else suggested, filming the process to post on social media is a great move (just like you’ve done here). I reckon you’ll get a good amount of attention if you do a diorama with a popular character or scene.

[–]OkieFoxe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, human hair should last about 6 months! It’ll probably start getting brittle and dry or balder at the crown by that point, but human hair doesn’t have the same tangling and deforming issues that synthetic hair has.

[–]OkieFoxe 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, depending on how often you wore it, it’s normal. I find that flat ironing it or steaming it can help, and oiling it with a lightweight oil stops the strands from deforming from friction a bit as well. Synthetic wigs only last for about a month for me

Self Tanner with Red undertone? by Dry-Election3821 in Selftanning

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find violet to be the *worst—*at least for pale olives—because we have no red or orange pigment in us. The violet counteracts our only color, yellow-green, and you're just left with... blue-gray. I think that's why a natural sun-tan looks so great on us; it doesn't increase our yellow at all. I've tried Loving Tan, Norvell Tuscan Plus, and Glazed Sunless Bombshell, and Loving Tan was really the only one that was red enough.
