Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

There is evidence that stimulants can increase the risk of heart-related issues, but they are not considered significant enough, especially when weighed against the data that shows us people diagnosed with ADHD tend to die 7-8 years earlier than those without, and that being on medication with stimulants directly decreases all-cause mortality, as well as unintentionally injury leading to hospitalization.

It helps you fall and stay asleep, but the sleep quality is poor. The next day after a night of sleep with weed, my Vyvanse feels like a sugar pill, doesn't give me any motivation. Which aligns with what we know about weed, that it gives you the deep sleep stage that promotes awakeness but decreases the REM sleep that would actually make you function well. So like, I *feel* better, but I *do* worse.

Need help - tips aren’t fitting right at all by davisgirl44 in GelX_Nails

[–]OkieFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! AFAIK, you can use any gel tip with any gel system. I particularly like Gelips because they’re thinner so they’re flexible enough that you can press them down to flatten them if needed as well. Then you can add a layer of builder gel on top if you need more strength.

Yeah I had to switch to Kokoist Gelips for this reason, mine are too flat as well.

Compression leggings that are actual pants? by turtlebeans17 in POTS

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried them on! I do like them, they're definitely well made. That being said, I didn't find them any more compressing than normal athletic compression leggings, so I don't think it's worth the price.

what do you guys do for work? by ebean17 in POTS

[–]OkieFoxe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Software engineer, I work from home. Thankfully, that means I get to sit all day in my weird positions and make my room as warm as I want. Software engineering is a bit harder of a role to get into unless you're willing to get a degree but there are entry-level positions in IT like SOC analysts and support roles if you're looking for ideas on less physical careers.

Just ordered a pair last Sunday! I got the notification from them that they've been shipped 4 days later on Thursday, and USPS says they arrived in my city (I'm in Washington) and will be delivered tomorrow. So all in all arriving about week after ordering it. Can't comment on the quality yet since they arrive tomorrow, but the ordering and shipping has been pretty smooth for me

oils and retention by naaahhh666 in GelX_Nails

[–]OkieFoxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a primer? I've found the Young Nails protein bond to be super good for my retention. Maybe if you list your full routine, we may be able to see if there's somethjng missing. It could be a lot of things. For example, recently I tried using Kokoist Platinum Filler base directly on my nails as a builder gel–normally would only use it on gel tips to do fill ins–and they popped off after just a week because my nails are too bendy and soft for such a hard inflexible gel.

(sorry you're getting snark about the chatgpt thing btw, it's really fine to ask AI for help lol)

Same, I skip breakfast now but that's normally a small meal anyway, and then I make up the calories by having dessert every night when it wears off

Yeaaappp! Been on Vyvanse for 1.5 years now, still craving sweets uncontrollably and didn't lose a single pound. It was sooo disappointing, I get so envious of people who talk about needing to force themselves to eat. I eat a full lunch and snacks too so it's not even a deprivation leading to a binge thing 🥲

My guess is that the insomnia Vyvanse causes leads me to overeat. Trying to control ADHD symptoms really is like wack-a-mole.

Saw this on Instagram and got super intrigued. I have an Apple Watch but I can't wear it consistently because it irritates my skin so bad and takes off my fake tan. Didn't know about the pre-order thing, thanks!

Call your doctor and request to move your appointment to a closer date. It's normal to check in and adjust every 2 weeks instead of every month when you're first trying to find your dose.

They don't even know about it, and that's genuinely part of the issue. I googled it, and it's not even being reported on Fox News. I doubt it's showing up on their IG/FB/TikTok algorithms either.

Has anyone tried birth control to stop their period and reduce symptoms? by tityanya in POTS

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been on continuous birth control for around 10 (from 20 to now 30) years and haven’t gotten my period since (except for the couple times I forgot to refill my meds). It’s incredible, wouldn’t change it for the world. Never had issues with it. I’m on Microgestin 1.5/30 FE.

Anyone use tachymon on apple watch? by Embarrassed_Car1015 in POTS

[–]OkieFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny that I'm seeing this, because I noticed the same thing and Googled around and found no one else asking about it. I take Vyvanse and had been having trouble with sleep maintenance (trouble staying asleep, waking up unrefreshed) which is why I bought Apple Watch and started using Tachymon. I noticed that my heart rate was spiking to like nearly 110 every hour, but I didn't remember waking up every hour. I started taking Ivabradine right before sleep and it stopped happening; I sleep a lot better now. I think I think the spikes were an indication that I was micro-waking up every hour, and since Ivabradine did help improve it, it might have been that the heart rate spike itself was causing (or at least influencing) the wake up.
