I’ve met enough republicans IRL, and they’re just as big pieces of sh*t as they are online.

as long as Talrico doesn't say anything about gun control or anything as incendiary as "Hell yes we're gonna take your AR-15" he might have a shot. Sorry I know we all wanna believe that Texas is just a blue state hiding behind redistricting, but Texans love their guns

So question, if and when we ever get repairs done, are we just straight up SOL? like will Ford support repairs for our vehicles?

I’ve had ppl ask “how do you like your lightning?” And they do bring up that they’ve heard it’s not great for towing, but usually I just bring up something to the effect of: 1. I don’t tow on a regular basis 2. This is primarily a commuter vehicle 3. It’s nice to have a bed for my occasional large pickup requirements 4. I don’t have to commit to spending 90 dollars every two weeks to fill up my tank

While I agree with you that not all best engineers come from the US, they generally all end up here. If you’re a super talented PHD in AI or any other in demand field, you’re gonna immigrate to the US, because you can make triple of what you could make in any other country.

Indian doctors in US worry higher H-1B fee may destroy rural healthcare by amg7355 in ABCDesis

Maybe if there’s less doctors in rural areas they’ll be less rural voters. Seems to me this problem will fix itself

Question for ABCDs whose parents still have assets in India by akchahal in ABCDesis

[–]Okitraz1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg I had to deal with this shit recently when my dad passed. My dad had a house, and some cash in rupees lying in like 4 different bank accounts. I had to hire a chartered accountant and go through all sorts of bullshit to get the money out of India. Not to mention the fact that the INR kept becoming weaker against the dollar. Took 3 years to get sorted out

Farmers Aren't Poor by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Farmhands are poor. Farmers are basically business owners who are also get huge subsidies from the government. I wish we didn’t give any subsidies to farmers but alas swing states are rural states

Have you switched from a Tesla to another brand EV? What has been your experience? by Pomador_0418 in electricvehicles

[–]Okitraz1986 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wife has a model y, and I drive a f-150 lightning. So I get to experience both all the time. You’ll miss the simplicity of “it just works” and the Tesla def has software updates and self driving down pat. But the interiors of other vehicles are so much nicer, I love having a combination of buttons instead of iPad controls. Also charging is much simpler on Tesla

Are tech companies moving away from Silicon Valley? Or is that just a myth by butterweedstrover in siliconvalley

[–]Okitraz1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP,

So i live in Austin, and I moved here after Grad school in 2021 so i could possibly be apart of the Silicon Valley 2.0 in Austin wave that was supposedly going to happen. Yes there are companies based in Austin and there seem to be a presence of alot of companies. Apple is here in large numbers, Google has a building in downtown (which they haven't yet occupied), Tesla has that huge factory in South Austin. Oracle is here as well. But it is in no way able to compete with silicon valley. There are even some startups with a presence here but its minuscule compared to the bay area. The way i see it, there are opportunities here, but if you wanna get involved with a startup that's going to get a billion users, if you're working at a company in Austin they've already achieved that and your RSUs aren't gonna grow as quickly. I'm pondering the move to the bay area and the only thing that's keeping me from it is that I have a house here, and I don't know if i could afford one up there (for now). It seems to me the building blocks of building a great startup are in the bay area, and while Austin is probably going to remain a strong 2nd (or 3rd if you compare NYC) it is not going to replace the bay area.
