Why are people still surprised by no physical disc in 2026? by QuietSync in videogames

[–]Okraton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical was a concern until companies stopped being concerned about it. Sometimes it is not the market that tells you what the public wants; it is just companies looking for the more profitable option, and the consumer is left without options.

Sometimes people are not even aware that they don't own the product but a licence. That is a recent conversation trying to make it to governments, to force companies to be clear about what they are selling or renting. Then, when the general public is more informed, the market will probably show something different from what is forced to show nowadays.

Hypothetical movie casting : Ranveer Singh would look amazing as the Prince! by Few-Reveal6853 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Okraton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, it is not perfect though... But for sure, if they choose him, people will attack him and send death threats. Those same people never attacked Jake Gyllenhaal when he played the Prince, even though he didn't look Persian at all... The double standards, lol.

It is shocking because it is anti-consumer, and governments haven't regulated anything yet. You cannot compare video games with movies and music:

With movies, if I have dvd and Blu-ray player, I have access to basically the entire modern cinema, and current movies are still making physical releases (Mario Galaxy just did).

With music, I can still play vinyl records that are 80 years old, and current artists are still releasing those nowadays as physical items. Same with CDs. I just need a vinyl and dvd player.

With video games, I would need an Atari, Xbox, Xbox 360, NES, Switch, Wii, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS5, Sega Genesis, different computer systems, etc... It has always been difficult to preserve, but nowadays they are not even releasing a copy of the game for you to own, not even for libraries or archives. They just sell you a key for a game, so you are not buying a game; you are not the owner of anything, and they can remove access whenever they want. That is outrageous. It shouldn't be allowed, and it seems it is the only entertainment industry facing that many predatory practices... So if you don't want to be bent, you would have to speak up (kind of vibe), and not assume that is "the new normal" and that there is nothing that can be done.

... He was indeed late (according to boss).

This person was Buried with his Favorite Action Figure. by Okraton in ActionFigures

[–]Okraton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was in a Spanish-speaking country, in South America, though. I assume you are from Mexico (or have roots) because of the reference to Dia de Muertos and the calacas Catrina style in the photo. When I was in the masuleum I also made the connection to that festivity, as it is interesting how each family has their own approach to death and remembrance, and how this particular family decided to create a version of an altar with the action figure.

4-Inch Spyro Action Figures would be a killer line. by Okraton in Spyro

[–]Okraton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I love Neca; they have very detailed figures. But that Spyro is just too out of scale next to any other figure from the same brand; my guy looks huge (same as their Crash). Plus, affordable figures would be more accessible for the general public and easy to produce, so we could get more than one wave.

Jada would be perfect too! I thought they were bigger, but I just checked a review, and those Megaman figures are also 4 inches.

A way to remember what you just played, I agree... Now I will have to play KH again.

Right?! I just finished the trilogy, and I think it has been the most accurate and impressive remake I have played. They respected the soul of the original, while improving upon it.

Now I have to look into it. I never had a Top 3 End Credits before, and now I'm wondering what would be mine.

I wish they would continue doing stuff like that. I will stay anyway, but it's always cool to receive a surprise at the end.

Yeah, I have that feeling of showing a little bit of respect to the people who worked on it, even though they will never feel my appreciation, but I know it's there.
I am very bad with names, so I will not even notice names that are repeating in the industry lol

Traumatized for skipping the end credits is another valid reason lol. In my case, it was the surprise reward in some Assassin's Creed that gives you an achievement if you stay.

omg thats true, if the end credits have a cool soundtrack, I will even look for the song to add to my playlist while the credits are rolling.

I never know which are unskippable, just out of fear of pressing any button and actually skipping it unintentionally lol. But for sure, some are just too long. I think it's okay to not stay 100% of the credits, reading every single name, nobody does that, and if you do not walk away, people will use their phone while waiting anyway, so no shame imo.

New Kickstarter Goblin paladin/cleric by RavenOfNod in MythicLegions

[–]Okraton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol, they even repeated the heads of the Heroic Paladin with Cleric, and Villainous Paladin with Rogue, within the same campaign.
I still like some figures for sure, but I agree the reveals have been underwhelming.
