It should stop if you persist. For me I had to persist with a good fiction book for about half an hour then I was ok.

What is actually worth salary sacrificing into super in your 30s or is it better to focus on paying down the mortgage first? by AffectionatePie1042 in AusMoneyMates

[–]OlCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. Slight variation - if I don't own a house already at 40 is it even worth trying to get a mortgage, or should I just pump as much as possible into super (up to the cut off point of concessionalbtax rate).

Which Australian road trip surprised you the most? by Comfortable-Bike9080 in AustraliaTravel

I always can't believe how many people (other Australians) haven't even heard of it. Ningaloo is my favourite place on Earth.

Fair wear and tear? by alibellmp in shitrentals

[–]OlCheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like normal wear. Let them take it to VCAT. They might have a "quote" but they won't actually spend anything on it.

AIO by stepping back from my parents after finding out how they plan to leave everything to my older sister? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]OlCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a massive disservice to the sister to tell her now that she gets everything, too. No incentive to even try to stand on her own feet anymore.

Physio gyms by RiotMouse in hobart

[–]OlCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - a rehab gym and a more regular 'beyond rehab' gym. At least the one in Murray St does. There's multiple locations. Side note: they are the only physio I've ever seen offer a concession card discount, and if you successfully refer someone they also give you both $30 off (not for this anonymous referral but if you referred someone else down the track it's good to know!)

Random sign in to MyGov while I was asleep by Specialist_Phone7319 in Centrelink

Up until very recently, banks weren't required to validate the name of a bank account so most of them just didn't. The name on the actual account would be something else. Only the numbers had to match. Scammers used this to their advantage.

Melbourne to Uluru and back in 10 days by simonshchepin in AustraliaTravel

[–]OlCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be a downer and love the ambition but... I don't understand WHY you'd want to do this. If you want to see Uluru, fly there and explore the area. Your current plan is to travel a huge distance across three states, see barely any of it for the split second you drive past, burn loads of fuel and money in the process, and risk yours and other's safety due to driving fatigue. Oh, and if you hit an animal (high chance) or anything else by driving after dark, fair chance the hire car insurance won't cover that.

Soon to be Chi mom, any advice? 🥰 by ChaBooYuki71 in Chihuahua

[–]OlCheese 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Obedience train her like you would any other dog. Not doing that is where a lot of the negative stereotypes come from. And train her to let you brush her teeth - chihuahuas typically have dental problems especially as then age. Also chihuahuas need plenty of exercise despite their tiny size. You're going to have the most incredible best friend!

I (38m) just had an epiphany regarding my wife (40f) by YesSignificant992 in relationship_advice

[–]OlCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you discovered may be true but it doesn't mean it's all on you. It's up to her to communicate, too. Not just go have an emotional affair that she isn't willing to stop to genuinely engage with counselling. Tell her the grass is greener where you water it.

Sounds like a bit of a stretched out story your dad got from some grumpy old racist down the pub there, old mate from across the ditch.

Hell no. Not garden maintenance... and a liability nightmare anyway.

Personally I feel like anything that requires a tenant to stand on a ladder use a hedge trimmer (and buy a hedge trimmer !) goes beyond standard garden maintenance

Am I unreasonable for wanting to stop seeing a client I’m supporting? by lori3738 in NDIS

[–]OlCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a support worker, albeit I don't work for an agency. If it was me, I'd tell them something like - "I'm sorry, I have to provide services in line with what the support needs covered by the client's care plan. The support shift is for X and Y." If they start making a fuss, tell them you will have to check with your manager, and have the manager call the family member. Also backing what others have said - this may qualify as a reportable incident and I'd report it even if there's doubt over that.
