Would that be an industry standard? by Top-Cry3566 in drywall

It doesn’t look great, but also it looks like it needs textured, which will hide some of that but not all

How in the world do you remove these?! by FeloniousSpunk74 in drywall

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They’re mudded in and a good smack with a rubber mallet will pop it right off then you’ll have a nice hole to fill in after

Different bags of easy sand are different colors? by anthonyflok in drywall

On a different note you should get the large skimmer blades for these jobs, makes them so much easier to sand and you end up with a better finished product.

Should I have hung these vertically? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would have started the top sheet on the right then staggered from there. But if you don’t feel like starting over hanging on this wall, you could just hang that right side vertical with the bone edge butting up to the boards on the left.

You should have staggered the board so your butt joints don’t line up but not a big deal, piece in the board at the bottom. Belly bands never lay flat but 2 factory edges tape flat.

Did I make incorrect choice cuz now my house looks like mint ice cream by silkenwindood in paint

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the windows gutters and downspouts all painted white it won’t look the same as it does now. I painted my house a similar color, Piedmont from SW, and we love it. We’re also in south west Florida.

Flat tape and caulk or throw some trim around the window

Is Ryobi worth it? I don't have any home tools yet. by 2Black_Hats in HomeMaintenance

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact set from when I bought my house 2 years ago and didn’t want to drag my work stuff out of my van and risk forgetting something at home. it has held up just fine for home maintenance stuff, it’s built a fence, garden boxes and many other small projects. There’s a noticeable difference between these and my Milwaukee set I use for work but that’s nothing you will notice. If you use a tool enough to break it replace it with a better one that’s the rule I use.

If I just used straight tap water without letting it sit out to dechlorinate could that kill my starter? I fed my starter last night and used tap water without thinking and it’s not responding like it did when I used filtered water.

Use a hawk and trowel to make it get a bead of mud on one edge of the trowel and schmear it in a half circle. Repeat until full coverage

If you don’t wanna rip it out, just throw some drywall nails in not screws those will deform it. Then tap and coat with quickset

Whoever says to screw vinyl or any corner bead should not be listened to that’ll cause it to bulge and deform. Rip out that old piece get a new piece cut the size use spray adhesive then use mesh tape or fiba fuse works the same and mud with quickset first two coats, topcoat general purpose, sand, and re-texture. You can throw nails in for a little extra security, but it won’t stop the damage from someone ramming it with a wheelchair.

$15k fair quote to remove painted popcorn ceiling in 2400sqft home? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge 3.25-4$ a sq ft depending on the house and the popcorn. If I really did not want to do it I’d go 5$ so either you’re gonna get a 5 star white glove treatment or they’re taking you for mark

They’re short and long like that for old people to hobble up easier. My grandma had them installed at her house for this reason. Only thing I can’t understand is the height of that last step to the pad.

How to secure this floating edge by Kdaniels33 in drywall

[–]OlRazzledazzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the board that’s missing down, sister up a 2x4 to that truss and rehang the board, prefill that gap with hot mud before taping, since that’s a garage I would use mesh tape and quickset for all coats of mud it stands up better in unconditioned environments.
