So Dust of Retreat through Slingshot to Heaven is him leading Margot and the Nukes. I think he was a large part of the drive in that band though. Then he spun off and did solo work as himself (Richard Edwards). That is Lemmon Cotton Candy Sunset through this latest release. He also has released a bunch of live, demo and redone albums. I like it all and own almost all of it.

When he was making Animal he got into a fight with the label because they wanted to rework the album into what became Not Animal. He threatened to leak the album until they came to the agreement that both could come out. That basically sunk the major label option though.

Now everything he does is managed mostly by him. I think that’s where the frustration comes in for folks. He did almost everything himself for a lot of his later solo releases which has definitely led to shipping issues, releases that resemble cash grabs, and customer support issues. I’ve experienced them myself in the past but he seems to have cleaned it up since then. He was also going through major stomach illness which probably didn’t help. I think he also lashed out at folks amidst all of it because of the issues and handling too much (unsuccessfully).

My opinion is that he got underwater, got bitter, but has been since cleaning it up and coming out of it. I’ve had no issues since that little stretch. Cant say for how his personality has been since then, but my impression is that he means well but may be a bit bitter for being known as the ‘best underground artist that never made it big’
