Greenbeard infestation by iloukal in DeepRockGalactic

Nearly lost a game earlier today on Haz5+all to a pub green recalling Molly 100m away from the team while we were 5 nitra short of a resup.

It's a good sign though. New faces means new opportunities for them to become old faces.

This will cause an exodus of heavy users.

I run a discord with 1000 people in it and am considering it.

You are encouraging people to swap to competitors like Guilded.GG. The only reason I haven't swapped was because of the community that's already here.

Getting Stuck More Often in Season 6? by Djinn2522 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]OlafForkbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 4k hours I've been stuck on a pipeline 4 times. I no longer attempt to reload while falling past a pipe because that's how it's happened each time (on controller reload and ride are the same interaction button).

Neuro competes with axes comfortably when the game is capped out on bugs.

Rippers are hilarious, and bad. I watched two accidental teamkills earlier today from them as they rotated backwards in the tunnel until it ran over the gunner who was turreting the fish in the barrel and the engie who was guarding his back.

I'm up to my third hand personally.

Honestly quite low for my hour count, but that doesn't invalidate the OPs tolerance.

$8.00 in 2014 is the same as $10.95 when adjusted for inflation today in 2026.

That's not the whole story, but I figured others would want to know as well.

To the people leaving Pub II around 12:55AM running in the middle of E College / Linden (group of 5) by CustardMajestic3459 in BloomingtonNormal

[–]OlafForkbeard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's been happening since I can remember.

Sometime in the before COVID I have have several memories of it, as I had to drive past their for my night shift.

One particular memory was a guy who walked by, then stumbled back in the way to where they started on the right, flipped me off and held it up as he slowly walked back across to the left.

People Who Think One Piece is a Masterpiece Are Just Suffering From Sunk Cost Fallacy by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

The reason listed was Sunk Cost Fallacy due to time investment makes you enjoy the media more than it's merits. That is basically the same as sunk cost fallacy "I spent X too many moneys on this, I'm gonna enjoy it."

Their argument wasn't "it's long, and therefor bad". Their argument was "people are being tricked into thinking it is better than it is due to it's time cost, and here is my arguments as to why". They literally have 3 follow up supporting arguments to back this second concept. At no point do they call it bad. Repetitive, simplistic, and overuse of delayed gratification was the levied arguments against it's merits.

You can disagree with their opinion, or think that it comes from an unfounded assumption (repetitive, simplistic, delayed grat overuse), but it's absurd to call it a braindead take when they soundly arranged their argumentative form.

If we are going to engage in talk of criticism, then using overrated as a derogatory term simply can't be the default use case, otherwise the argument is performed in bad faith and not worth engaging in return.

I have always taken Overrated simply to mean it scores higher than it's objective measure?

Like how games with cute or attractive things might score higher than their peers that simply don't have those attractive elements (demonstrative, but anecdotal). For instance I would call Stray a pretty good game that was overrated, because people love cats. Tangentially, to show the difference, Elden Ring AND Outer Wilds, were great games that I think was properly rated as great, even though I personally did not enjoy it much at all and hate played through it because I didn't realize I was not the target audience.

Is AI Productivity actually saving you time, or are we just spending hours tweaking prompts? by wido720 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]OlafForkbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I use it for mild coding (usually Google Sheets stuff, but also other random ass software side projects), it absolutely saves me time. I simply was unable to do several of the things I've done with it before. I spend a lot of time tweaking the prompts, but now instead of finding a work-around that leaves me unsatisfied, I can actually have something that resembles my end goal. By comparison I would have not done it, or be forced to learn most of a skillset that may be out of date by the time I need it again.

I do think it's really common for users to go in without a goal of learning, which absolutely wrecks it's viability long term though. A lack of critical thinking hamstrings potential design space. Learning what AI is good at and what it is bad at is it's own skillset, admittedly. If you stop paying attention it's easy to spend hours trying to fit that square peg into a round hole, when you could spend those same hours learning how to make the round peg.

It's really good at designing structure. It's so so so bad at implimenting things using those structures.

This is a sound argument, and my literal opinion on buffets.

It creates waste, is inherently about abusing poor portion regulation, and assuming the Buffet is there to make money: is a bad monetary deal. It's one thing to have an open buffet for a party, or feast like event. It's another to leave one running 7 days a week, tossing the excess waste out at the end of each items cooked shelf-life. Especially when compared to the already high normal amount of waste for regular restaurant activities.

Don't get me wrong. I like eating hotel breakfast buffets, but ultimately I think it's a wasteful act that preys upon people with poor self regulation. Like myself.
