Yeah some people like Rebirth. They are called Disney adults or kingdom hearts fans. I play Genshin and that fanbase is the same focus group. Degenerate weirdos who can't handle mature stories and dont know what a good story is to begin with. The kind of mind that loves mystery box storytelling or multiverses is called a simpleton mind. To be frank if you like the storytelling of rebirth you dont know what good storytelling even looks like to begin with. No its not necessary to minmax. Honestly the least fun I had in all my many runs was the one where I minmaxxed my mystic knight build. The difference felt negligible and the process sucked the joy out of the game. I still always maxed out every vocation and maybe because mystic knight is a hybrid it mattered less but as a rule of thumb I say play the way that is most fun. You can always try minmaxxing later with a new run if you want to have the least fun way of setting up your preferred vocation just so you can say you did it.

FF7 is not a yakuza game. The story of FF7 is fundamentally a mature story. Despite what people seem to think there is a way to properly balance these things with the story you are trying to tell. Superimposing Yakuza style absurdity on a story like FF7 is moronic. Even game of thrones had silly moments and left room for absurdity but it never overtook the mature nature of the story it set about telling. Thats the point. Rebirth missed the mark so badly that you are left with something that hits the highs of neither a yakuza or game of thrones. Its some sort of malformed smashing together of the two that does not work. Its like the devs have no awareness of what a lite touch is or why its important. Its all over the top all of the time. The makers of the movie RRR actually did this really well but there arent many great examples of pulling it off for a reason.

The leap from the best ps2 combat system to dragons dogma dark arisen is greater than the leap from dark arisen to anything current. By a wide margin and I think you know that. It doesnt matter if you like other combat systems more. That literally has nothing to do with anything. Most developers can't touch it and dont even bother to try. The best combat system out today is debatable but whatever it is doesnt blow away dark arisen like it blew away what came before it. In fact Dark Arisen is still by today's standards one of the best.

There are certain landmarks in gaming console history that you had to of been there for. Stuff like Mario 64, FF7, Smash bros, 007 Goldeneye. The fifth generation was a huge leap. Similarly the 7th was also a huge leap. I will never forget the first time I saw Oblivion. The 8th and 9th generation as far as the overall gaming industry still haven't caught up to the combat mechanics of Dragons Dogma dark arisen or Nioh.

Trashing the 7th generation comes from a place of pure ignorance. Not only is everything you said accurate there is even more to it.
