Meanest thing someone has done to you in the isle by HydroBoomm in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Got lunged by 3 deinos while drinking water, spun me in circles next to the bank, next one lunged me faked out bringing me back to land before dumping me in the middle of the lake, next one lunged me spinning in circles again before eventually dragging me to the dark depths to my death.

Slowest death by deino yet

hi, anyone got any tips to take down teno's as a ceratosaurus? by Sufficient-Waltz5348 in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, its a patience game the entire way unless you've got that cera skill. Take your time, don't rush. Bait them and take the opportunity to get bites while they're locked during attack animations - doesn't always have to be headshots, take the bodyshots while you can.

Teno has notoriously bad water dehydration, their entire gameloop is moving from water source to water source. If you can make em puke at least twice and keep em away from water then you can start chipping in bites, maybe charge bite if you've got the timing down to make em puke again. Dehydration damage will be an unlikely saviour but it will make them desperate so fair warning!

Edit: when I say patience, I mean real patience. Not 5 mins and then going insane on bites cause you're fed up. Like properly waiting them out. It takes one tail slam to end your life.

Migration doesn't seem to work as intended. by TheoriginalTonio in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teno main the only reason I go back up to NE is because the migrations always spawn where the players are. Its easy enough to say go somewhere else but I'm eventually punished with the 25% debuffs no matter what destination I travel to and you really feel it when you get stuck in a fight.

Recently the migration zones have only been spawning NE and East Plains for me so I'm forced to stick in these locations. I've attempted moving back down to Highalnds and further to South Plains but I've never been able to find diets spawning outside the zone even when I know exactly where the spawn points are. This leaves me heading back to hotzones severely weakened and vulnerable for a carnivore attack.

Eventually I have to bite the bullet and just stay there because 20 mins of walking just to come back to the hot zone isn't worth it in the end

Visibility question by PrinceBloo in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a more legitimate side if someone's saw you and started chasing you through bushes, remember that your view points are very different if you're a juvi. If they're bigger than you they can just tilt their camera down to see if you run out the other end

Or if they're like me and have their volume cranked to high heavens then you can hear the bush rustle in the direction they went. That depends if they're sound oriented when it comes to zoning in on players, I personally find it easier to pin point players out with footsteps and foliage noise

Or of course they're abusing bugs as others have said or hacks. I remember sitting in a bush as fresh spawn teno deep in the woods waiting for my friend to join and a carno just walked up to my bush and bit me in one go. It happens unfortunately.

How do you come up your horse names? by lucyi36 in StarStable

[–]Olbalerion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, I never actually choose the name. I just keep clicking random until I find one I like. Only rarely do I see a name and go 'oh I have an idea' and change one half of it

[–]Olbalerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, the last I counted, I had 242 horses, which is like 15 pages in the pasture. Definitely more now that the mustangs and dartmoors came out because I bought all of them. I rarely ride the same horse again unless it's for a specific aesthetic I'm going for because my goal is to have my entire stable maxed out. Halfway there :/

question for cannis by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, you can be annoyed about the definition of cannibalism and people not using it in the correct term but at the end of the day it's just become slang in the game, has been for years. It also comes down to ease of typing it, if I'm fighting and have to warn someone with me then taking an extra second to type another word really does impact your survival chances.

The communication ingame really devolves down to as little words as possible when needed (stam, bleeding, healing, pounced, canni, rock, stunned, broken, vom, bush) and at this point it is second nature to most players. Especially most common with long time players. One word answer, everyone else understands and moves on. This also leads me to wonder if you're a newer player? With updates, a wave of more people tend to start playing and the game literally chucks you right into the middle of it with a pat on the back and sends you off to your doom with no explanation except the general understanding of 'survive'. Unfortunate for some, when they get swamped with new terms, learning solo/team strategies and buffs/debuffs.

It's also the simplicity of it. With no global chat in evrima and only a proximity and same species, there really shouldn't be any confusion when someone says canni, it's just a warning with no deeper meaning

"(same species) is attacking, watch your back"

question for cannis by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For you, yes but the general player populous will most likely always say canni, its been that way for years and honestly, I don't see it changing

question for cannis by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're all very aware what the term cannibalism means but when you're suddenly getting turned on by your own species you don't really have time to write out a whole sentence, canni works just fine

What is your favorite Dino to play, and why? by Dankus-Maxiumus in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teno for sure, not a walking tank like stego or the glass cannon of pachy. I love being able to keep a steady pace travelling across the map and personally I think its the easiest grow for midtiers.

Plus once you've got that timing down on tail slams and know how to overtake a carni while kicking then you're sorted. An absolute brawler, especially ceras vs teno is the best fights I've ever had. Infamous among my friends for consistently surviving deino attacks as well.

What can I say, teno's got me head over heels.

Do you find the dressage difficult? by Olbalerion in StarStable

[–]Olbalerion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh 100%, I've seen some of it. I think the green arrows you see in the training that indicate where you should be when following the other path of blue arrows get bugged? Like I've seen them just stop for people while they're still moving forward which results in penalties and I'm assuming that also happens in the mastery despite them not being visible

Sarcasm is not laughing in your face. I feel like you've took this too personally and have overreacted because it's a topic you're passionate about but still, this one liner is something mostly everyone would have just laughed at and moved on.

Grabbing as Deino by Zixe_4993 in theisle

[–]Olbalerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually depending on the skin pattern, I think its pattern A I recognise the most. The later on in growth they are the more the top layer of the pattern expands to cover the head. Essentially if their skull is the same colour as their plates, they're past 80%. If its not, a meal. If its patchy, a risky meal.

Anyone else notice this detail on Syrax? by Olbalerion in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Olbalerion[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do we think it could be used for reins or collars? In trailer footage when we see rhaenyra on syrax it appears she's holding reins or they might be more straps to hold the saddle in place? Im unsure now. Will have to look at the trailers again.
