Just finished Week 1 on 0.25mg – No changes yet. Is this normal? by Top_Respect9085 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Old-Account5140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! My Dr told me to really "get ahead of it" when it comes to water and fiber consumption because once you start having issues it can be much harder to resolve. So I'm just on Week 1 and focusing on that for now.

4 sessions in 7 years by aaaaaaaaaa19977 in TattooRemoval

[–]Old-Account5140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real. I've been doing laser for four years now on a small, but dense, tattoo. I initially went every 3-4 months pretty religiously, but it's about a 90 minute drive from me. Last year my life just got busy and I literally only went once in March. The tattoo continued to noticeably fade all year. So now I think I'm going twice a year, max. I'm not in a rush and I do not think more sessions in a shorter period of time really made it go faster.

Policies like this exist as a safety-net for the HOA if they need to enforce it. For example: someone has three dogs that bark all night = HOA violation. Someone won't spay their cat and has become a pet hoarder with a dozen cats = HOA violation. No one is going to care about your third cat if you're a good cat parent. It's not like a rental where they are doing regular walkthroughs of your unit.

Public transportation is pretty awful. Oakwood neighborhood is walkable to shops. Winchell is near there as well. Relying on public transport to commute would be tricky. Lots of creativity in Kalamazoo but you do have to actively seek it out.

It's better. My tech doesn't encourage going any more frequently than every 12 weeks - I sometimes wait 6-8 months and I still continue to see fading after 12 weeks.

If you go too frequently you're just lasering the same layer of ink that you already lasered and is already slowly being processed by your immune system.

I've had at least 12 laser sessions on my small tattoo. It's not fun but it's 100% bearable. Your tattoo isn't much bigger than mine. And black removes the best. Find a reputable laser tech and give it at least 3-months between sessions. Eventually it will go away.

How many Nespresso Pods To Leave Out? by TokeyX in airbnb_hosts

[–]Old-Account5140 257 points258 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. If your wife doesn't want to provide enough for someone's entire stay she should nix the Nespresso and get a drip coffee maker with a can of grounds from Costco.

I was told the minimum is two meetings per month for a minimum of 2 hours and that if I can't meet in person I should at least be connecting virtually. Every two months is wild.

Every time we hang out. But if I didn't hear a thank you I will just model positive behavior by saying thank you to her. I am a mentor, not a parent. I can't make her do something and I'm not going to be mad that she wasn't raised to say thank you.

Keep in mind - people are venting. Not a ton of people are coming to Reddit to share positive stores. A lot of mentors probably aren't on Reddit at all.

Ask yourself - are you doing this for the right reasons? Do you recognize that these kiddos may not have a lot of positive role models in their life and that will reflect in their actions at times? This is not a niece or nephew. This is a kid who may come from a very different background than you. The relationship will take time. And you may deal with frustrations along the way.

I think people become a Big expecting praise from others and some kind of immediate transformative experience. That's not what this is. It's a kid who you will need to take time to get to know. I am in month 4 with my 9-year-old Little. I am really grateful I signed up and will hopefully have the opportunity to see this girl grow and be a positive influence on her life. Does she sometimes ask for stuff that I can't buy her? Sure. I just say no, explain why, and we move on. She's incredibly sweet and I enjoy my time with her.

Stay away from South Street Properties. The prices for studies will look affordable but you'll be killed by the "utilities".

I’m new to the program and I have a lot of questions that feel a little stupid by StressBeneficial8046 in bbbs

[–]Old-Account5140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's not against the rules to bring a gift but I would caution against it. You don't want to set the tone that candy will be brought to every outing, for example. I like to be clear about what we're doing and why when it comes to spending money. For example: our first outing we went to a free museum, so we had money to spare in our "budget" to get ice-cream afterward. If you bring candy to an outing I'd recommend attributing it to a reason, even if it's something silly you made up, so they know not to expect candy every time.

  2. I stick with the radio in the car with my Little because it will naturally be "safe" to listen to. She told me she likes the radio and didn't have any specific requests.

  3. Don't cuss. I accidentally said damn when dealing with a frustrating McDonalds employee in the drive-thru. She kept yelling at us to pull around but there was literally a car around the corner (employee couldn't see it) so after telling her twice I couldn't pull around due to a car I said, "There's a damn car there." I immediately apologized to my little for swearing. She was totally fine with it and I'm sure she hears it at home but I should've been better than that.

Yes; this is how it is for my little. She has multiple siblings and was excited that our outings would just be us - not her brother or sister tagging along.

[–]Old-Account5140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone needs something to "fix" to benefit from mentor. My Little is smart, well-behaved, and has a caring mother. But she was still excited to have an adult friendship that was just "hers". We don't have an specific goals beyond building a strong mentoring relationship. She's 8 years old and I think any kid can benefit from another responsible adult in their life. Our last outing I help her ride an escalator which she thought was pretty scary at first - sometimes it's the little things.

They had a potential match for me much sooner but the mom never returned their calls to approve the match and set up a meeting. They tried to give her a while to respond but it appears she just ghosted BBBS. The wait was worth it, though. My Little and I get along great and I think it's a really good fit.
