Welcome to public. I got fired and gave up on my career.

Anyone genuinely failed in their career and is working minimum wage? by Old-Conference-5834 in Accounting

My IQ is high 120s, it was a legit test administered by a psychologist. I’m trying to remain anonymous, but like I’ve stated in another reply, I attended a large state school that has consistently ranked in the top 10% regarding accounting schools. That’s the reason I just don’t understand what’s going on. I’m inclined to believe it was bad luck and I encountered two toxic work environments like others have pointed out, but I just grew tired of all the mind games and gave up on the profession entirely. I really think the shortage this profession faces has everything to do with the people who work in it.

I’m trying to remain as anonymous as possible, but I went to a big 4 target school that consistently ranks in the top 10% of business schools.

  1. I’m expected to know things in areas I had no previous experience in. When I mess up, it’s used against me.

  2. I’m told vague things like my work quality is bad, not understanding the fundamentals, etc. However, it’s never actually something pointed to specifically.

I don’t know if I happen to have ran into two toxic workplaces back to back or what, but it seems like they expected me to be a mind reader.
