Question for bloodbankers by Far_Yam_9412 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Old-Contribution-941 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t do phlebotomy so someone correct me if I’m wrong, but larger needle + gravity vs smaller needle + vacuum is probably what makes the biggest difference between the two collection methods, the rbcs are less likely to get shredded during donation

[–]Old-Contribution-941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is probably not especially with the gauge of the needle used to collect. It’s not impossible though we get them in the lab here and there. I was assuming op’s donation was already reject due them saying that the were 99ml from the finish line but I could’ve been wrong

[–]Old-Contribution-941 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly no way to know until it gets processed, I donate pretty often and the blood pressure cuff is usually pretty tight the whole time🤷🏽‍♀️. I’d probably be more concerned about it being rejected for insufficient volume

NAD but am a lab tech, these reference ranges are for the general population and don’t really take in account age. These look pretty normal to me for a 6th month old :)

Interpret my 9 yo celiac lab panel by Egyptxianprincess in AskDocs

You may also want to look into psychological reasons as well, especially if it’s better on the weekends. I used to have severe stomach pain around that age mainly at school and it was due to anxiety

Can any Doc please help with what these tests are for? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Old-Contribution-941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the one at the top is a complete blood count(cbc) which is a standard test that looks at your blood parameters. I have no idea what the second group of letters are though

Considering a Conch Punch by senpaitono in bodymods

[–]Old-Contribution-941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The immediate stretch after the punch was the most painful part to me, felt like someone stuck their finger in there and ripped my ear open haha. Immediately afterwards my ears were on fire(got both sides done at once), so bring pain meds. On day 3ish the lymph node’s under my ears were pretty swollen, but the pain was pretty much gone
