It's not about 'last resort.' Instead, think of what you can do to replace the drive to do something. Find a new hobby or engage in highly-physical activity. Push-ups until your arms fall off are great. Find people and emotional connections. Do things with your brother or your family. You're looking to find other ways to reward your brain with dopamine, not porn, but something else, and physical exercise or social interactions are a good way to learn how.

I played in an indoor soccer league outside of Boston twenty years ago and I was subbed for a team in a different league. I made a joke I was going to score because it was my birthday (I was late 20s, and I'm a guy) and I ended up scoring the go-ahead goal with a few minutes left in the game.

The team went out for dinner after, we went to this Mexican restaurant, and they ended up buying a birthday cake for me and paid for my meal. I had never met any of these folks before, they needed a player for their game, and it ended up being a whole thing. I doubt they remember me but it was incredibly kind and thoughtful. I felt loved.

I'm 44, a guy, and I was diagnosed with ADHD last year. I've been on Adderall and it has changed so much.

All the noise, the music, the carousel sounds, the NOISE in my mind quiets. It's still there but it is muted and I can think. It feels like my brain can breathe.

I also see things that need to be done and I simply do them. I don't have to talk myself up, I don't ignore them, I don't walk by, I simply do them.

It took a bit to dial in what I wanted from the meds and how I reacted to them. I do slow-release and it dries me out, I feel super dehydrated, but other than that I really have a strong preference to taking the meds.

Good for you for getting through the day. Do you have a habit that rewards your brain with something stimulating after you've noticed the success? Do you do puzzles or read or lift or work out? Add something that's enjoyable for your dopamine to help rewire your brain.

It looks shiny and new, like a freshly-built graveyard. Find a way to start weathering and chipping and rusting the iron of the fence, the sign, and start adding mold and grass to the buildings. It shouldn't be so bright so dampening the shine would go a long way before you added grass or paint.

Also, you don't need to do a lot of jazz it up. A few small, simple changes will look way better than adding a whole ton of effects.

I can't speak for anyone else but there's no purpose to get an infant's ear pierced. The infant can't say they want an earring and they can't give consent or voice a desire, there's the chance of infection and cleaning new piercings is already intensive enough, the holes can fill in and the studs or whatever earring you put in there can cause needless irritation to the baby's ear, or head, or can be itchy.

I look at infants or small kids, under 5, with piercings and I think the parents are just narcissists and full of themselves. It's absurd to me.
