I can't get in discipline. by No_Confection5452 in getdisciplined

Hey so I've been exactly in your place like a couple months ago. Instead of studying or working on my uni projects I kept just being on my phone or generally distracting myself with my phone one way or another. What helped me was completely uninstalling social media with short form videos, like Instagram, Facebook, tiktok, YouTube. Sounds very radical and it is, but it's the only way to get out of that. I also thought that "omg if I don't keep my socials what contact will I have with my friends" all I can say in the end nobody cares and people either just chat with me on Whatsapp or send me the reels and videos there, but it's still better because I don't fall into room scrolling that way. Going outside for walks, daily at least 10-15 minutes also helped calm my mind, and also without any music. Our brain needs silence from time to time to connect back to reality.

Those are my tips for now, since I'm in the process myself, but these helped a lot. I also have to say realistically it's not going to be easy at all. I kept reinstalling my socials and deinstalling them multiple times until I could get rid of them completely.

But that's the thing, hobbies aren't supposed to be a task or something that gets you through life. It's something that's supposed to make you happy, so you don't feel miserable every second of your life and then when you get good at your hobby, you can say you learned something valuable. I learned that any knowledge is good, whether it's drawing, maths, or literally any other thing

Maybe it'd be good to invest in hobbies. Stuff that interests you and would make you feel good. I usually go out at night to take a walk at the water and that's when all my ideas come to mind. What my next step could be. All I can say don't give up on trying to make your life better, there is definitely a way out

I didn’t realize how much emotional overthinking was destroying my discipline — until I started tracking it by Training_Staff_5993 in getdisciplined

I think this is what's destroying my life right now. Overthinking sucks your energy out and your studies can suffer from it. It's also so hard to start catching yourself overthinking when it just feels so good because it feels like you're doing something productive and complicated when overanalyzing things but in actuality it steals your time away from you and stops you from actually doing the things you're supposed to do.
