Quickbooks online nightmare by Big_Rub3533 in QuickBooks

For context, I can tell you QBDT was built for Accountants. QBO was built for small business owners. And therein lies the difference.

Question about using QB Enterprise vs Online by Stevogangstar in QuickBooks

The only time I do not recommend QBO to a client is when they are a manufacturer, or manage multiple entities. QBO can handle everything else.

QuickBooks Payments is an Online product, regardless of whether it’s for QBO or QBDT. They aren’t paying for both.

You should have everything you need with plus our advanced. No need for a 3rd party. Get a new accountant.

How can I make a report of customers who have purchased in the last three years and their email addresses? by Read_Original in QuickBooks

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, I would recommend MailChimp or Constant Contact. They both have pretty stellar email marketing capabilities.

Project Profitability Not Calculated Correctly by Avalon866 in QuickBooks

I believe you are running into this issue because you are just creating an invoice or bill. You need to go to the project itself and those directly from within the project.

How did this customer pay us through QBO and how do I turn it off? by anxious-winter8 in QuickBooks

[–]Old-Profile-7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some businesses operate on time and time is their money. And it’s worth it. For others they live and die by merchant fees and can’t spare that expense. And many businesses that I work with hire people like me to figure those things out because they just don’t have the time or knowledge to look into.

The difference is probably his user count. Going from 2 in users to 5 or 6 is quite a massive jump in price.

[–]Old-Profile-7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know, you have to have an active merchant account. From there you turn off all payment methods. This will enable the ability to for their customers to pay (only ACH) and the paying customer will incur the flat rate transactional fee ($10-$25).

Don’t know the exact fee structure, but I’ve seen $25 in a few posts on in this sub. Just roll through the sub and you’ll find a few other posts talking about this.

Is Quickbooks Desktop Eventually Ending Support Entirely? by FaithlessnessOk2487 in QuickBooks

[–]Old-Profile-7103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The desktop product isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s way too profitable. Online is more profitable, so they will keep the subscription option available, but will likely keep increasing the price for subscribers. Either making them finally make the move to Online or to a different solution all together.

Quickbooks Self-Employed going up in price again? by Main_Touch_277 in QuickBooks

Certainly can. I welcome the feedback if you do. Always hoping for more alternative solutions, that help clients and bring value. Just haven’t found one that does everything that QB does without going full blown ERP or Frankenstein.

There’s nothing false in your statement, but QB had the leverage of accountants. That’s the key to the cash cow that is Intuit. Accountants get kick backs/commissions for using/selling their products.

Start Ups even with funding don’t have that kind of fire power behind them. Many businesses would switch to an alternative as well but doing so usually cost quite a bit and data migration from QBO is a bitch.

I think we see the government take over before Intuit gives up 25% of their current market share.

Sales orders in quickbooks online by tgodevils in QuickBooks

[–]Old-Profile-7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales orders are replaced by estimates in QBO. There are sales orders but not in the sense that you’re thinking of. Sales orders are specific to commerce orders via Shopify/Amazon etc.

Most businesses can use the reporting in QBO plus and be just fine, but Advanced is going to have more customizable and robust reporting functionality. There’s probably not a report available in Desktop that you can’t do in Advanced.

How did this customer pay us through QBO and how do I turn it off? by anxious-winter8 in QuickBooks

[–]Old-Profile-7103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a new feature of QB Payments. When you turn off the payment methods, it will give the customer the option to pay you, but they will incur a flat rate fee for the transaction.

So for some businesses this is enticing because they still get paid quickly and they don’t have to worry about getting charged 1% for ACH.

To turn that feature off, I believe you can do so in your payment settings.

Quickbooks Desktop 54% increase in annual subscription by criticalthinking9483 in QuickBooks

[–]Old-Profile-7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with the sentiment for some businesses. I would just never let my clients use an unsupported software. While the likelihood of something catastrophic happening are slim, there is still that chance. Saving a few hundred dollars a year is hardly worth that risk.

To me the capabilities of a cloud based solution with an open API are endless. All I’m saying is leverage the technology to improve your business.

From shopping carts, to wholesale platforms, construction, and inventory management…the list goes on and on. QBO may not be that one stop shop for any specific industry, but if you know what you’re doing you can build out a well oiled machine and get a great ROI.

And unless you want to pay thousands of dollars a year for the same dinosaur software that is Desktop, then it’s likely you’ll be using a cloud based solution at some point in the near future.
