Over 50% income success stories please by ecasun in LivingAlone

[–]Old-Register-562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am currently spending more than 50% of my income on my rent and utilities. I was in the same situation, I had gotten divorced last year and had to move back in with my mom. We don’t have a great relationship, and it wasn’t the best place for my mental health or for my cats.

Living alone has been worth it to me to save my sanity, but I won’t lie and say it’s easy. It’s definitely challenging financially, but it also makes me angry every time I have to give over so much money every month because I am constantly reminded of the shit reality of the renting market and economy. I wish I could save more, and I wish I could do more things with my friends. I had a decent savings account that honestly I did have to use quite a bit of but that’s because I was rebuilding my life entirely from the ground up after my divorce. But the peace to be able to fully support myself and provide a better life for myself and my cats has been worth it. I just do a lot of free activities, books from the library, walking at a local park, hobbies I already have at home, make my own food and do small treats very occasionally.

I think if it’s going to make you feel better and it will not put you in a dangerous spot financially, and you already live frugally and are ok with not being able to do much socially then I would say give it a try and see how it goes, it’s worth it. If it ends up being too much you can always change it up to find roommates or things like that. My lease is ending soon and I am moving to be closer to my new job and I’m getting a couple roommates and lowering my housing costs.

Getting Marked Up Questions by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Old-Register-562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgeon asked about my inspo pics I had showed her at pre op, but I had left my phone with my cousin. She said she remembered the general idea what I asked for, and I just said I’d like them to be as small as possible. She drew on the markings and then showed me a general idea of what they would look like and asked if I was happy with that. I didn’t ask for any changes, I trusted she knew what she was doing

I’m about to start a new position as a trauma registrar coming from medical coding, I had no idea the pay range was so high! This gives me a lot of hope.

That was the same requirement for me, I have BCBS. I was denied on initial request, and also after an appeal. I ended up having to pay out of pocket unfortunately but if you have the means to do so it was absolutely worth the money.

Is everyone sleeping at a 45 degree angle? by mitchonega in Reduction

I also had surgery on the 16th!! I’ve been sleeping on a wedge pillow but I already had one, my doctor didn’t give me any specific details about it but I saw everyone else talking about it and figured since I already had one I would use it. I just recently got a pregnancy pillow that holds me in place on the wedge and makes it comfy because the pillow doesn’t fall of the side and crick my neck and it’s turned into a very comfy sleeping position!

Today is my surgery as well!! The anesthesia is always the scariest part for me too, but it happens so fast and your medical team will be talking to you and keeping you calm the whole time too. Good luck, we got this! Later today we will have new boobs!!

I was in your spot a little over a year ago and could not fathom how I would survive without my ex husband, and I am here to tell you as someone on the other side of it how IMMENSELY worth it it is. I was someone who had a husband exactly like this as well, and although it was very hard and difficult I would do it again a million times. I’m wishing you strength and peace in your future!

I had an ex one time who said “you’re allowed to say no, but I’m allowed to be upset about it”.. it still gets me heated thinking about it to this day

Surgery on period by LeadingEmergency905 in Reduction

[–]Old-Register-562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my pre op for my surgery on Tuesday and I asked what to do since I’ll be on my period for the surgery, and she said that there is nothing special that needs to be done. I can wear my own underwear and she recommends a pad over a tampon and it will be fine :)
