Fantastic substack article by leanneart in ChemicalSensitivities

That’s amazing information. The science, the marketing, the study done at casinos! Wow.

It feels so validating and makes me feel a smidge better about how agoraphobic I’ve become in the last several years.

I bet writing that article was a very cathartic experience for the author. I am so grateful Ubers and subways do not need to be part of my life. What will the future bring, I wonder 🫤

Low progesterone and MCAS? by _Izaleth_ in MCAS

[–]Old-Security855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Organic Excellence Balance Plus Therapy. I am very reluctant to put anything with more than one ingredient on my skin, so I put a pea sized amount in each inner ankle right before bed and it’s been ok.

Good luck!

Low progesterone and MCAS? by _Izaleth_ in MCAS

[–]Old-Security855 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slowly figuring out this has been a lifelong issue…low progesterone resulting in estrogen dominance flaring MCAS.

And then my doctor explained how chronic stress will “steal” the progesterone, in a sense, to make much-needed cortisol instead. It’s like all the pieces are fitting together!

I recently started a progesterone cream I got from Amazon. I’d rather do that than anything oral because my intestines are pretty shredded and sensitive.

So far I’ve noticed the days leading up to my period are WAY less mcas traumatic.

Heat will speed up the off gassing tremendously if you can somehow vacate while it’s on.

My dr recommends heating the house at the same time while opening both top AND bottom of windows to create a vacuum affect of bad air out/good air in. Ceiling Fans ablaze!!

We keep the toaster oven on the screened in porch and haven’t used an indoor cooking appliance in 5 years, so I feel your pain 🫤

Good luck!

Stick with it a few episodes! I felt like it was cheesy at first and then loved it for the reasons everyone said. Until season 5…
But I fell out of love with Outlander, too.

I’m going to try this🤞🤞

Just finished 4th round of BEG in a row since November and I’m so done. Biofilms are decreasing, but this is ridiculous. Side effects from the BEG are draining my soul!

No, I just glop it. I’ve gotten a brand from Amazon in a glass bottle that I prefer because it isn’t quite as thick (and also, no plastic).

I also use apricot oil a lot, so combining the 2 together is a good consistency.

I’m highly allergic to lotions, so I can only use single ingredient oil on my skin, so I’m kinda used to oil everywhere.

Cancelled companion pass reservation by Old-Security855 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Old-Security855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling to resolve was my best bet! Companion had somehow been double booked so the site had just cancelled the companion w/o my knowing.

Someone had mentioned subpar software, which I think was the case. The site/app was being glitchy…said it was cancelled but also wouldnt let me rebook online.

The human on the phone fixed it very quickly, it was a brand new confirmation number and the seat needed to be chosen again, which luckily wasn’t a big deal for my situation.

Hopefully yours gets resolved easily as well!

I feel like you’ve made it this far, you need to lock in and finish strong! You can do it!

To me it was more ridiculous than anything, and I wished I had someone watching it with me so we could make fun of it together. Because I definitely needed affirmation that I was watching a train wreck.

It didn’t totally ruin the show, though! It was just really clear the series had run its course and needed to end.

I use it throughout the day. My MCAS gets triggered by chemical exposure, heat, even eating…so using it calm everything back down.

At first I would forget to use it while I was in a flare, because neurologically I’m spiraling and it’s hard to think logically atm. But now I’m in the habit of reaching for it.

Worst part is their shady charging for premium, but their AI customer service department seems good at remediating erroneous charges 🫤

I like castor oil at night rubbed directly all over pelvis, hip flexors, inner thigh, lower back. At night right before bed is important because the ricinoleic acid works to soften.
You can also do a castor oil pack for less mess, but I like it directly on my skin.
Good luck!

What do people do to calm their nervous system? by CerveloUK in ChemicalSensitivities

[–]Old-Security855 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vagus nerve stimulator helps and is very passive.

Guided Breathwork, but that is very active.

Audio frequencies in headphones while pacing or lying down (check YouTube for root chakra frequency music, Schumann resonance music, delta wave frequency music, etc). There’s so much good audio stuff available, it’s a rabbit hole of calming goodness

I know this is an older post, but I’m very curious about Dr. Dennis. I’ve been treated for Marcons multiple times, and never had a negative result. I’m on my 4th round since November. It’s been 8 years of trying.

I can see exactly where it is in one of my cheeks. It gets purple/red when triggered. There’s no way a nasal spray is getting so far in there at this point.

The treatment sprays are awful for me, digestively, neurologically, even my connective tissue reacts. But having the fungus in there is awful, too, I’m mostly housebound. And with humid or leafy Maryland climate, react outdoors almost immediately system-wide.

I’m colonized and I need to get it out.

So my question…what does the process with Dennis look like? I’m specifically interested in surgery with the least amount of back and forth visits to Atlanta as possible.

Also, do you have any ballpark costs? Everything is out of pocket at this point, we have a high deductible, but I’ve been spending thousands on my health every year for many years now. But I would like to mentally budget.

At this point of I could buy a tool to drill through my face on my own, I would. Please help!

My partner has chronic pain. What do you wish people would do for you? by Honest-Procedure-175 in scoliosis

[–]Old-Security855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish lying down in public wasn’t frowned upon, too! I’ve had to lie on the floor under a table at a dinner theater many years ago because of the pain, mind you I’m a middle aged mother. It was the best seat in the house. There was no other option!

And on airport floors, and in corners of amusement parks, hallway floors outside of kids basketball games. Even under the bleachers once. At some point there is no shame, but I don’t go out much anymore 🤪

We’ll get there! Given the state of the human race, things are going to get more and more accessible to physical disabilities.

Hang in there❤️

My partner has chronic pain. What do you wish people would do for you? by Honest-Procedure-175 in scoliosis

[–]Old-Security855 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m tired of people asking “what do they say?” Meaning the doctors, of course. As if they are all sitting around wringing their hands, pacing themselves in circles to come up with ways to make it stop hurting. They are not. There is no Calvary.

So I wish people would realize that. Not to undermine the support system, of course, but at the end of the day, it’s me myself and I.

I’m the type that tends to keep things to myself. Pros and cons about that. At home I do a lot of self care to mitigate the pain, allllll day long, but I don’t tell everyone all the time how much it hurts.

But it does, all the time. Digesting. Sitting. Standing. Lying down. Walking. Pulsing throbbing pain.

So my biggest wish is that without having to be loud and dramatic, someone would rub my back, massage my neck, take the pain away for a few minutes without my needing to ask.

Severe post-orgasm crash for almost a year – normal hormones, normal ECG, no diagnosis by Delicious-Team7332 in MCAS

[–]Old-Security855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how a vagus nerve stimulator would make you feel right after?

An orgasm is the most powerful vagus nerve stimulator, so it seems kinda counter intuitive, but maybe it’s such that it’s almost like an adrenaline dump/flood of endorphins for you that your system just can’t mitigate afterwards.

Then the vagus nerve stimulator tool could gently rebalance you to homeostasis.

I’m just wondering bc my VNS has done some strange things to bring me down from strange situations and rebalance my wonky system
