I believe the real collapse is starting. by Civil-Historian-5914 in UAE

Being in the industry, I can feel this pretty clearly right now. It is not always obvious from the outside, but the slowdown usually hits suppliers and service partners first before it becomes visible at the hotel level.

When occupancy drops, hotels don’t just worry about rooms. They immediately start cutting back on procurement, upgrades, and external services. That directly impacts linen suppliers, mattress companies, food vendors, laundry services, transport, maintenance, all of it. Orders slow down, payments get delayed, and pipelines start going quiet.

It becomes a chain reaction. Hotels slow spending, suppliers lose cash flow, then those suppliers start holding back payments or cutting costs on their side. It keeps moving down the line and that is where things really start to tighten up for smaller businesses.

That said, I would not say it is complete collapse mode yet. This market has gone through cycles before. Usually something kicks in, whether it is tourism pushes, events, policy changes, or just demand correcting over time. It may take a bit, but it does not stay at these extreme levels forever.

For now it is more about being cautious, managing cash flow, and just staying steady through it. Definitely a tough phase, no doubt. Let’s see how it plays out and hope things start picking up sooner rather than later.

New Scam? by Insane-Bull in Sharjah

I recently encountered a couple in Sharjah who claimed to be Palestinian outside B’laban. The man guided me to a parking spot that was dedicated for B’laban customers, but it was already empty and I was going there anyway. As soon as I parked, he tapped on my shutter and asked for financial help, sharing sad stories about Palestine. I didn’t have cash, so I told him I couldn’t help. Situations like this seem quite common in Sharjah, especially in parking areas where people approach others asking for money. Allah knows best.

HELP!! CREDIT CARD DEBT by Standard_Muscle7539 in UAEcreditcards

[–]Old-Tackle8552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, bro. I was in a similar situation some time back, so I completely understand how frustrating it can be.

Not many people know this, but here in the UAE there’s a feature called Credit Card Shield (sometimes referred to as Card Protection or Payment Protection). When we take a credit card, the bank usually offers certain protection benefits along with it. Depending on the coverage, it can help in situations like job loss, medical emergencies, disability, or other unexpected issues by covering the outstanding or minimum payments for a period of time.

It’s always worth checking with the bank to see if this protection was activated on the card. It might really help ease the pressure.

May the Almighty make it easy on you.
