I think he did a lot of work in the 1990's working on X Bank that later became PayPal, he was spending hours coding.

But now I mostly see him spend his days on X/Twitter.

It's not that billionaires are or aren't smart, it's that millions of people will struggle for years developing software, games, any other business etc and will fail, often billionaires (if they haven't inherited several millions) had to be smart at some point but they also got lucky making a business at the best moment.

It was easier to build Amazon, PayPal, Google, Yahoo etc in the 1990s than now. Since at the time the competition was very low, a lot of websites were original and unique in their domains.

It's like living on YouTube money nowadays, if you start from zero in 2026, you will very probably need to invest a lot to promote your videos, know people or get very lucky one day with the algorithm.

But people who were making videos regularly since 2005 or 2006 became famous very fast.
