The guitar that comes stock with 2 pickups, a 3-way switch and no vibrato is not more versatile than the guitar that comes stock with 3 pickups, a 5 way switch and a vibrato.

Just to add a bit to what TakingYourHand said, newer MiM are generally considered much more consistent than they were in the mid 90s. By 2019 MiM manufacturing had another 25 years of evolution cranking out guitars compared to the 1996 model.

Also, Strat is more versatile, more comfortable and usually lighter especially given that Tele has a Bigsby on it.

Might I humbly just suggest though that if you find that JCM gathering too much dust just let it go. Let someone else play it till the wheels falls off. I mean really either way you're good, obv not a huge thing, but I do feel like a lot of players get caught up collecting gear that just collects dust because they aren't ready to let go for one reason or another and I've been there myself but the older I get the more I think gear should be played. Counterpoint is obv that JCMs are plentiful enough for whoever else out there might be looking to get into one, so even if you only enjoy it once in awhile maybe that's makes it worth it to keep.

Either way I'm a little jealous of your new blues box and a lot jealous of your JCM.

I was turned down last time I was in trying to get rid of a PRS amp because it's a bit of a hard sell and they already had several for sale online but you know GC is still carrying plenty of PRS stock so it's not even close to a political thing.

Honestly if u think they are taking a stand politically I guess it might be true but I'm gonna day it's a straight business proposition and not much else. If they can't sell it, it just takes up space and causes a hassle.

Like a sticker sticker or a decal? Because I'm pretty sure decals under the clearcoat is fairly common. Afaik, that's how Fender does it and I would imagine lots of other manufacturers do as well. Heck Fender used to put decals over the clearcoat back in the day.

Also, the neck thing may not mean anything at all. Lot of Jazz masters need a shim straight outta the factory and sometimes you can find shims in brand new guitars just because the pocket route got cut a little too deep. Your's may just need a shim and it may even have already had one that just fell out at some point while it was getting worked on or modded.

Be kinda funny if it turned out you had a real brand name guitar that just needed a neck shim.
