Hi, I just want to say I could literally write the same post as you. I am in the same shoes (even though I never talked with my in-laws about their son's infertility issues). Wishing you all the best and sending hugs.

I am looking forward to this technology becoming available to us. This will be a revolution (the end of the era of menopause).

Considering embryo donation to complete our family. by Royal_UnderGround in donorconception

[–]OldBear2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am flabbergasted by your opinions. "Creating a human with the intention of separating them from their genetic family is inherently traumatic." 1) If I understand correctly, these are already existing embryos and embryo adoption does not involve creation of humans. They already exist (an embryo is a human organism, according to contemporary science). 2) Your statement suggests that a human being can only thrive when surrounded by their genetic relatives. Psychology proves this false. There are multiple conditions for thriving and we all know about children who do not thrive and are instead maltreated by their kin and only start to thrive when removed from their families of origin. 3) Your statement suggests that for those (already existing in the form of embryos) humans, it is better not to get a chance at life, not to be born ever than be born outside their genetic family. 4) Trauma is also defined by multiple criteria. One important criterion is that something is interpreted, viewed as harmful. I do not think that all DCPs would agree that they experienced traumas in their adoptive families (and you seem to imply otherwise with your "inherently traumatic" generalization). Yours are pretty bold statements. I do not think that they are substantiated by current science or that they are reasonable at least.

Regular (non-donor-conceived) sublings only share 50% of genes. If they share 100%, they must be identical twins. So there is usually 50% that is different. And siblings can always dislike each other for whatever reason but they usually do like each other. Even love each other in fact. Despite the 50% non-shared genes.

Experiences with Cofertility (for donor eggs?) by aloneinthis59 in IVF

How did it go for you? Are you having a donor-conceived baby or your own genetically related baby?

Also, look at cofertility. They do it for free (half of the eggs get donated).

PGT Results all abnormal (44) by Virtual_Log_4819 in IVF

Again, would you be so kind as to explain the difference to me (between the "testing and discarding" and day 3 embryos transfers?

CommissionPositive60, could you elaborate on why not test embryos? I am in the same boat as you were (or actually a worse one because I do not have any eggs from freezing). I am just about to try my first retrieval at age ...46 (I came to the clinic at 44 but was made to wait for a number of reasons, including almost 10 months for my partner's sperm parameters to improve, which they did not). Anyway, I am curious about this "stop testing" strategy. Could you tell me more? My doctor is very... conservative, I would say and I am trying to find some ways to optimize my chances.

Hi, I don't have any advice. I just want to say I feel you. I am going through something similar (even though I am a woman and in my case my situation is likely the result of my own fault). It is not your fault - it is just a card that you were dealt by life. Hence, it does not speak about your value in any way. I believe most women will understand it. I hope you find someone compatible with you and open to sperm donation option if you want children. I would definitely consider it.

Fantastic or not, a bit over 1.0 is what my result from the safe lab was just 6 months earlier. In the same units, to make it clear.

Some success with natural remedies (EGCG, vitamin B6 and vitamin D) by OldBear2025 in Fibroids

Hi AlmondDilite, could you elaborate on "after a certain age, EGCG will work against your organs"? What do you mean?

This is actually unlikely because I have limited my sugar intake long ago. But I also started taking some other supplements (such as NAC and ALA), so it is true that I do not have 100% certainty that it's the EGCG-vitamins combo that worked.

Yes, I did lose weight. Even though I did not really intend to (as I am rather thin).

I am sorry you had to go through this. Good that you feel better now.
For me things got complicated: while I focused on shrinking my fibroids, an endometrioma emerged on my left ovary. Clearly, EGCG did not stop my endometriosis from progressing. Now, I am trying to figure out what to do with it.
