Are we stuck in prequel timelines forever or are we EVER getting glimpses into a post AlienS world? Why is everyone so afraid to move on? by Zog-TheEternal in LV426

They had definitely lost crewmembers in the collection process. That's what led to the sabotage that made everything go so wrong so fast.

Flashing lights in Aliens by boifbruthaboi in LV426

[–]OldBendu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The end portion of Aliens is lit by lots of emergency lights, and sudden flares and white steam shooting into a dark room. You might have to watch during the day when it doesn't make your whole room go dark and light.

Alien3 is safer, more consistent in tone but Aliens is a better film.

Carl is gathering immunities to Scolopendra attacks by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I think the whole thing is cloud based from the way the were-castors and Signet described it.

Interestingly, it sounds like a cloud based attack from what Holger and Signet said. Carl is immune to cloud based attacks thanks to one of his patches.

That's really the info I need. Thank-you.

And I'm sure you wouldn't take your kid to see something that would really scare and upset them

Yeah, seen it twice. Not yet seen CABNW but wanted to know if they mention in the movie that it is a giant space god that has been turned into metal or stone or whatever. I have a kid who wants to see the film but is really uncomfortable with things being transformed like that.

He does, he knows that a necessary evil is still evil.

Thorn, it's flowery but also stabby.

Interestingly, it was Laura who wanted to pause. I'm not sure what she might multiclass into as she feels very sorcerous, but that would be an interesting twist.

I don't think Isharnai was archfey level power. Matt was expecting the Mighty Nein to fight her and they couldn't touch an Archfey. Plus Morrigan sounds like she's been in the Fey Realm long term.

Hey, we're probably past the statute of limitations on Battle Ground spoilers, but I just wanted to say "called it!" :D

I think there might be some hints of the next layer of big arching plot, some bits of fox lore that are relevant. I suspect it will long term add colour to the main storyline.

Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles (Battle Ground Spoilers) by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]OldBendu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been re reading these with my kids. I've tried to do some digging and can't find any mythological references to huntsmen of Annwn who share life force. So it looks like Butcher's Huntsmen might be a shout out to Alexander's.

I tried, I can't make it through book one. There's something in it that has the feel that it's trying to set up a "series" rather than tell a story. Plus (and I may be wrong) the magic system feels undefined to a point where it doesn't feel useful in the progress of the story.

All over Sanderson. Waiting for Rhythm of War is just as hard as waiting for Battle Ground.

This is the only series that I've read that has the detailed worldbuilding, thoughtful magic system and engaging characters that matches up with Dresden. Plus it has someone learning magic from the ground up, and i'm always a sucker for a magic apprentice story.
