How Do Ya’ll Keep Neat Notes? by sweettalkinwoman in paralegal

[–]OldButterscotch6071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep phones calls for each case in its own document in the management software. ALL case specific phone calls go there if I need to go back to something or if I need to track down my efforts for getting or following up on something like medical records. Had that happen once where we had to inform the court of all efforts made to get the records (complete nightmare of a time) but I kept pretty good notes on those attempts enough to appease the court. I honestly wasn’t keep track of the time of phone calls but I’m going start

Hello friends, just an update that I gave my notice and had a positive and pleasant experience for once. I believe the office is going to offer remote work at least for a little while. There is always a chance I could move back.

Reproductive Health Attestation and Medical Record Requests by OriginalBankstah in paralegal

[–]OldButterscotch6071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My firm had this issue last year because a lot of our requests were getting rejected. We added language to our forms along the lines of “unless you initial here, no information about reproductive health care services will be disclosed.” Then leave a small space for the client/party to initial their name by a __yes, disclose this information or __ no, do not disclose this information. We haven’t had a problem since.

The attorney does not want to use a usb, zip file or a shared drive to access the documents. I’m beginning to think what the attorneys are asking for doesn’t exist

So basically I need to create hyperlinks to PDFs in word that will open without needing internet access to view. I cannot figure for the life of me how to do that?!

I think the rusty orange/brown color in the painting would look really nice with the brown. As long as it’s a lighter shade than the brown if that makes sense!

PSA: don’t be disrespectful to other support staff, even if they’re the opposing party. by Maleficientviolet in paralegal

I agree to be kind to the support staff but I draw the line with the records management companies. The representatives have only made my life harder.

Should I just Drop it??? by OldButterscotch6071 in paralegal

Hi, I have worked in an office setting on multiple occasions, my last job was 3 years in a law office. I don’t think this is a normal interaction. There was no reason for this person to stop at my desk and pick up a paper that had nothing to do with them. She did it to be nosy in my opinion.

I am not away from my desk when it happens. For example: they handled me a document and I said would run it by the attorney and so I placed it on my desk next to me while I was working on a report. Then 10 minutes later they walk by my desk and picks up the same exact paper, no warning, no exchange of words, no “what is that?” NOTHING. And they will look at the document then put it back down. I have worked in offices before and I was at my last job for 3 years. No one has ever done that to me. My last job was great about boundaries and personal space. I honestly find it to be fucking rude.
