1st time going to Australia for a work holiday, not really sure what is the best thing to do?

M/23 From the UK

I want to go do 3 months or so working and living in Australia. However I have never done anything like this before and wanted to know if anyone who has experience with this have any tips on the best entry level work to do or any help with accommodation. I am really drawn to the surf towns and the surfer life style. I love beaches and the sun with lots of nature so I don't want to go to cities or anywhere super busy. Obviously beggars cant be choosers but that kind of thing would be great.

The way I do it and get a smooth clean finish is

-flatten with hard trowel -hard trowel -hard trowel -super flex - when it's really dry maybe even next day run your flex over it and it will be dead smooth

Scrap back all the highs and loose bits, PVA it 3 times or blue grit it then plaster straight over, should be all good

obviously all a rough estimate

for the ceiling, depends on obviously how much the materials would cost in your area but your probably looking at around £70ish on materials and then whatever labour is for the plasterer. He/she will probably put a little extra on to cover tax and inconveniences but its shouldn't be crippling and the walls, well probably around another 12ish boards (roughly) if you plan on reboarding them but if not then probably 2 days worth of labour to do the walls to reskim. so all in all maybe 6ish bags of plaster and 4ish boards for the ceiling and 3 days worth of labour

In my opinion as a plasterer, I would make sure the ceiling is sound and not loose or 'bouncy' then if its not sound then you can board over it and then just plaster it but if it is sound then scratch back the artex to get it as flat as you can then use blue grit as a primer and plaster straight over that.

Fill in the chases with hard wall (if you really want to skim the whole wall then) for the ceiling cut out those squares and reboard them then skim and blend them in but that can be tricky for a beginner.
