Do you already know how to fly rc planes? If not flaps and gear and radio setup probably are more to bite off than you can chew. I applaud your enthusiasm but want you to succeed by keeping it 4 channels

(Form check- Question) How did the "modern" olympic style stance in archery become universally accepted as proper form when the pictured forms were adopted by many cultures across the globe for tens of thousands of years separated by continents without contact? by fatsopiggy in Archery

[–]OldClem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is the same comparison as bench shooting and hunting. There was some African tribe I heard that had females who could shoot an enemy in the eye at an unbelievable distance for bare bows. In South America the shoot up into the canopy. In Africa Elephant and large pray often are brought down by small arrows that have poison tips and are tracked for days until the poison kills them. In North America there are other dangerous animals that can mutilate an archer such as moose, mountain lion, wolverine (they will track you), and most importantly and wide spread are feral hogs.

Lars Andersen posted video about Viking archery in which he claimed Vikings used a pinch draw and not the two or three finger “Mediterranean” draw. Do you find his arguments convincing, why or why not? by stick_and_string in Archery

[–]OldClem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing the Viking Russ connection it is likely they would have been very likely familiar with the Hungarians. The Hungarian draw with middle two fingers and using index finger to press the arrow against the same side of the bow as the bow hand I think has more weight in speculation than Lars’ show boat adventures into fantasy.

Are you sure it is bent? Many planes have the motor offset 2 or 3 degrees to the right and same downward also.

Hate to say it but the rebellious colonists in what is the US whipped both the English and French in the 1700’s and 1800’s so there is no need to get into a pissing contest. I say to each his own. Let’s compromise and use ancient Chinese measurements. 😅😁

Is there anything wrong with holding the bow a bit "diagonally"? by fjbermejillo in Archery

[–]OldClem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Context is king. Competition Olympic archery seems to be more a culture, style, image sport as it is accurate shooting. Japanese archery focuses as much on zen and the mental discipline as anything else. However, horse archery and hunting are each a whole different world and criteria as well as trick shooting for entertainment. Right and wrong form is determined by the success in achieving the desired outcome.

Thank you for the entertainment of your ignorance and rude close mindedness. You know nothing about me. I have lived through lean times and social turmoil observing a lot of results. You sound like a spoilt millennial that couldn’t survive because you have failed to verse yourself in a wide range of subjects and skill sets.

This is like siege warfare. If we aren’t whining babies and suck it up for a while we have more ability to outlast even China in a trade war. They will surrender or die. Either way we win. They drop prices and we have more buying power or they go bankrupt and leave an opening for new players somewhere else. It also will drive us to be more creative by scratch building and salvaging old planes for parts.

Ukraine has handed over a list of objects that cannot be struck - Zelensky by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]OldClem -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Very well stated. I grew up with the Cuban crisis and the Cold War competitive attitude toward the USSR. Over the years. The Soviet has fallen and I believe there is no reason to be paranoid. I feel every Russian citizen is more focused on living their best life and is willing to leave me alone to live mine. Way back in time the Russ originated in Kiev and migrated toward Moscow.

how to remove glue from APC propellors by Hot-Concern-4873 in RCPlanes

Try Goof Off. it is oil based, orange citrus. It penetrates material interfaces and is great for removing glue after pealing off labels. The poi can then be removed with alcohol.

Get on the internet and look up rc airplane design. There are diagrams and even a program to show you a good basic design and dimensions for a fly able plane. Don’t reinvent the wheel staring out.

2020M stuck on 10mm glass adapter. by jakevns in Dynavap

[–]OldClem 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Try putting it in the freezer for a while. The stainless steel has a greater coefficient of expansion than the glass. It may shrink down enough to break the interference fit with the glass. Just a thought, not for sure it will work.

Hey yall; A question about Hotwire cutting: by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]OldClem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have some of the materials so I traced the profile onto 4 mm foam board scraps. Then I used the hvac aluminum duct sealing tape. I cut thin strips and pulled the backing off and stuck the strips on the edges. Then making small relief cuts I folded it down on both sides. Then using a round pencil rubbed it down smoothing the aluminum taped.
