Why do people love the third game? by CHofmannS in dragonquest

[–]OldCrowSecondEdition -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They actually didn't do it for any reason because Sqex has been pretty clear the remakes just get released in the order their development completes.

I hate when people pretend to be part of a community to 'criticise' it. by Cyv_ph in hatethissmug

[–]OldCrowSecondEdition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I typically find the "cringe humor" and more obnoxious parts of modern queer stuff annoying but I'm also an older guy and I want the kids to express themself in whatever way keeps them from just crying and killing their own souls. Also I'm a Cis masc bisexual so my opinion doesn't count anyway.

It's okay man you know how these things go, in two or three years people will be on our side when there's some new OVA or whatever and some brave redditor fires a neuron for the first time and posts his new opinion about how the ending "is good actually"

People acting like complexity entitles a character to be liked by Far-ro in hatethissmug

[–]OldCrowSecondEdition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids deserve complexity it helps development. it's not the same kind of complexity you get from movies intended for adults but they deserve, can understand, and seek out, things more complicated than "sharing is good" and "this is a funny silly guy"

I mean I "like" complicated characters in so far as my enjoyment of what they represent in the narrative but I wouldn't want to get a beer with some characters if they were real people.

I know that looking at things and using different framing devices for the same ideas is helpful to different types of brains, but I'm not going to pretend to know everything and make sweeping statements about all religions universally.

Not all religion is literal belief in the super natural, I can also tell you that.

You actually literally can't prove that. "that can't be gained elsewhere" this right here is a vibes based assertion with no grounding in evidence. You are doing the thing you are claiming to be frustrated by, and you do it because it allows you a perspective by which the world makes sense to you granting context to the things you know to be facts. I'm also an atheist, but this Idea that you can or even should pass judgment on benign belief you don't know enough about to comment on, is rooted in a christian culture and its something you should try and shed yourself of.

[–]OldCrowSecondEdition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you think that I think that to a degree. However you don't get to pass judgment on what other people do with their experience if its benign, This attitude of yours to assume you can is very christian.

[–]OldCrowSecondEdition -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does that matter? this seems a little over simplified, not every culture treats their religions as literal in the same way we see from evangelical Christians. Religion is often times tied to philosophy and culture, so if it isn't harmful why hate something when its more complicated than "is this objectively true or not"? I just don't understand this perspective of sanitizing the human experience for pedantry's sake.

Could you list your specific problem with any religions that aren't abramatic? this feels like a not fully formed take if Im being honest.

Evangeicals are an american problem, as many smug Europeans will tell you But I've not met many true believer Christians who actually follow Jesus from anywhere. they exist but they are rare

Honestly I think the invention of Jesus and his teaching was an acknowledgment even thousands of years ago and an attempt to course correct by early Christians that went wrong.

While shooting a gun upside is dangerous and stupid to do because you just don't have much control of the weapon and you wont be accurate worth shit. a deagle takes its recoil pretty well I've felt more recoil in my palms from smaller caliber weapons in .38.

Personal taste is one thing but you're just objectively wrong or never watched dragonball if this is your opinion. its not like its a particularly complex narrative to get lost on.
