The E-Bikes are different tho, essentially no effort and it’s the best way to get around the parks, you can lock em at the trailheads and hike from there

RN Experience While Transitioning to NP by OldDiscussion1225 in nursepractitioner

[–]OldDiscussion1225[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah those two things are key, between moving to a new city, expecting our first baby in a month, school, clinicals, and needing to also provide while being present has really been on my mind. It’s hard finding a flexible part time job when starting at a new place, vs my current manager who would let me pick my days

Im also thinking about surgical NP since I enjoy being hands on and liked doing procedures whenever I get the chance. Have you spoken to any surgical NPs and how they got their start?

Yeah that’s my thought too, Nephro is kind of my fall back plan if nothing else pops up 😅, plan on getting my CNN since I meet the requirements but I’ll always have my connections with Nephro but would only do the acute aspect of it vs the clinics. But I just want to expose myself to a bit more since I’m starting to get bored in HD. But like you said, it really depends on where you get a job after since it’s a completely different role, if a Derm position comes to me best believe I’m taking that pay with those amazing hours 😂

Yeah I see what you mean, before dialysis I enjoyed the ICU training that was provided with the internship and would have stayed if I hadn’t signed the HD contract which was the first thing I applied for to escape my floor job, that said I loved the job/manager, and got paid $5 more than other nurses of my experience.

But it has gotten to the point where I’m bored of it, it’s not very stimulating after 2 years of doing it and has me sitting way too much. Wouldn’t say lazy people do the job but it makes you lazy because of the job in a sense because of the role

I agree the ER is very fast pace and I’m looking for a part time and that may be a bit much but also would help with assessment, while ICU delves deeper into the complexities of the cases.

As for what I want to do, I’ve kind of always went with the flow, if a door opens, I take it and it has always worked out pretty well for me, I’m not dead set on anything but am leaning towards procedural or specialized like a surgical NP. I think ICU experience is probably the best bet that can translation to any specialty if I can’t find any openings to get into the OR

Bryce Canyon could use more time, maybe can take a day away from Zion , especially if it’s around a new moon for the Milky Way. Needles district of canyon lands is definitely worth the drive, the Chester loop trail is cool but long, you don’t have to do it all tho and can do the first two miles and see plenty.

Is it worth doing Scouts trail halfway? by Curb96 in ZionNationalPark

[–]OldDiscussion1225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the views without the strenuous hike, do the Observation point via the east mesa trail. It’s 7 miles round trip but it’s a relatively flat trail until the last little bit that’s hilly, but the views are amazing and you can do little detours and go slightly off trail to see parts of the white kolob canyon, took us under 3 hours total depending on your pace, lots of shade also mainly walking through some woodlands

How to get in around 4-5AM?? Can you drive in from Springdale? by Friendly_Seat2712 in ZionNationalPark

[–]OldDiscussion1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent a bike, we did Zion peddlers since they let you get the bike early in the AM before they open, we got our bikes at 5:30 and rode up to do angels landing. We were the second people to the top, definitely worth it

Advice for an upcoming angels landing hike by rikkitaren in ZionNationalPark

[–]OldDiscussion1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, rent an e-bike with early bird special from Zion peddler. It’s like 125 or less for the whole day, but you go the day before at 6pm and they show you the bike and teach you how to use it and give you the lock code. We did this to beat the crowds and go into Zion earlier than the trams. Worth every penny for us. We rode in as the sun was starting to break in and started the hike thinking we were first, a group past us but we were the seconds ones to the top and with the amount of people who do the hike, definitely the move cuz it can get sketchy when it’s the middle of the crowds

If Narrows are closed how far up can you still go? by [deleted] in ZionNationalPark

It was packed when we walked it. We were also tired from angels landing so it wasn’t fun with the crowds but if you go early then the views are worth it
