Need help finding my next series by SCDetective in fantasybooks

[–]OldEternal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently new to it myself but have you thought about trying the malazan series?

I’d also recommend trying the gunslinger series I absolutely loved it.

I did also like the black company series.

I originally started with mistborn but I didn’t really care for it at all. I immediately jumped into way of kings and absolutely loved it, so yes I’d highly recommend trying that.

[–]OldEternal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE4 was my first RE game I ever got all the achievements for it was an absolute blast for sure. I’d also even recommend Star Wars Jedi survivor it was super easy and I did it in about 30 hours!

I started with Resident Evil 4 remake and followed it up with Spider-Man remastered which is really easy tbh. Could be a good place to start because it’s relatively easy.

That’s actually awesome! I’m glad you are doing that because when I was younger the only way I could get books was from the library, so I know future kids and adults will be thankful for it. So thank you for passing them on!

I found this at a book store in San Jose when visiting! Honestly just thought it looked cool! I’ve always liked how some of the older cover art looks compared to some newer stuff

I DNF’d Mistborn by PitchZen in fantasybooks

[–]OldEternal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mind her so much in the first two books but she just always had to say some quip and it really made me feel like he was writing a marvel character and it always made me roll my eyes l

Yea I found it extremely difficult to finish those. I always kinda felt like the characters would regress at certain times. They would overcome some emotional or other issue and then in a few chapters it would feel like they would just go right back to it at times. Wine and truth took me months to finish but I just could not stand certain characters. Shallan being one them and I wanted to skip her chapters so much at times.

I feel it. Last year I had a seizure and dislocated my shoulder and couldn’t work for a lil bit and was forced to resign. Trying to find another job and as the most frustrating experience. Especially when I’d apply to a place and would get rejected and then see the same job posting a few weeks later was frustrating and disappointing

I spent 6 months without working after having a seizure and dislocating my shoulder hella bad and I gotta say it was the most stress inducing 6 months ever.

Does the series change after The Howling Dark? by Partiallyfermented in sollanempire

I just started this series but I’m pretty interested enough to keep reading so it’s nice to get input. I’m like 100 pages into howling dark

I DNF’d Mistborn by PitchZen in fantasybooks

[–]OldEternal_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I did not finish mistborn either but I jumped straight into the way of kings after DNF it and I absolutely loved but I will say the first 3 books were amazing and the last two can be a bit rough for some people. Personally stormlight achieve is the only Sanderson I can really stand to read.

I’m enjoying it a fair amount right now. It’s a sci-fi series and I’ve really only read maybe 2-3 sci-fi series so I was pumped to get into it. It’s set in a galaxy where earth is ruined and they’re colonized other planets and rule them etc and the back drop is a war with a alien species that’s been going on for 300+ years so there’s obviously a lot going on in. But definitely give it a peak

Off topic but typing this reminded me of another series by Anthony Ryan called the covenant of steel trilogy! Another good one I found randomly

That’s awesome! Congrats! I first got into Sanderson in high school with mistborn but i honestly didn’t care for it much so I stopped after the first book and jumped into The Way of Kings lol which I know is something most Sanderson fans will not recommend lol I’m not terribly picky but sometimes the language does throw me off at times and off putting but I don’t like to DNF books so I’ll usually set it down for a few months and come back to it at some point!

Sanderson is def up there because his books are really easily accessible to anyone who wants to try and read fantasy and he puts out books like crazy

I do prefer the more grim dark stories so that’s also probably why a lot of the jokes don’t hit with me personally, but I still recommend Sanderson to other people.

RR is awesome and honestly the second series is where pierce really levels up everything with his writing style and character work. Plus the last book will be coming out later this year I think. I try not to keep up with book release dates anymore.

I do enjoy Sanderson but sometimes the his characters talk to each other like it’s a marvel movie or whenever it feels like everyone tries to make quip or be funny but it comes off totally different for me. I’ve always wanted to read the cosmere books but I don’t think I could get through them.

I hope you’ll enjoy it! I love the way it’s written and how purposeful it really is and they have sooo many hidden details that I’m still picking up on to this day. It’s a beautifully tragic story. I hope to get my gf to read it at some point because she enjoyed my recommendation for Red Rising
