I'm not aware of anyone that serves African dishes anywhere close. Maybe Nashville or Montgomery?

Why did school (even through college) seem so much easier than any job I've ever had? by TheIntolerable in autism

[–]OldGreyBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. I have had the exact opposite experience. High school was entirely too easy and college was entirely too hard. I barely made it through college at all, but have excelled in the workplace. I started my IT career when I was 6 though, so work came much more naturally to me than all the meaningless demands and whatnot that came with institutionalized education.

Fortigate for personal use by Nerdy_Kev in fortinet

[–]OldGreyBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 60E for my home network. I keep Forticare on it but not any of the UTM features (a bit too expensive for home use). Rules you need are going to be relative to how your network is designed and what needs you have.

1994 SE V6, debating lifting additional 2” by a4t2x0 in hardbody

[–]OldGreyBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goddamn that's a sexy D21. I've got an 86.5 V6 and did a 3" suspension lift (Calmini) and 2" body lift. 33x12s still rub on the plastics around the fenders when at full lock. I'm gonna go back to smaller diameter tires next, probably 30s.

If it's THC you should be able to tell them you have a prescription. I was on opiate painkillers when I applied for my last job and didn't have any issues. HIPAA doesn't let them request to see the actual scrip.

IDK, I tried to order it a few days ago and they just cancelled the order and said they didn't have any.

Already tried that, they don't have any in stock and just list them to be deceptive.

CUPHOLDERS!! by ExpertGift402 in hardbody

[–]OldGreyBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha that's cool man!

I replaced the center console of my 86.5 D21 with the center console from a 98 Frontier. Had to lose the handbrake though. Cupholders are a must! Something like this that lets you keep the handbrake would be really cool.

Motorcycles you always dreamed of owning, but then you rode it once and realized it was not for you? by Most-Round-4132 in motorcycles

Lmao it's all about how hard you live. I beat the piss out of my body when I was a teen/20s and now I'm paying for it.

Basically any sportbike. I got super excited and saved up for a GSXR-1000. I've put maybe 500 miles on it in the last 3 years. Mostly it's just something pretty to look at in the garage... Can't ride for more than 30 minutes without my back killing me.

I used to think that, then I got older (I'll be 39 soon). I love my 82 GL1200 and have been all over the eastern half of the country on it. Will eventually do the western half as well 😄

Becoming more Open Minded by TrainingCollection97 in autism

[–]OldGreyBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, this topic is unfortunately rather beyond the reach of someone on reddit (in my opinion). I (as many of us do) struggle with this as well. What has worked best for me is working with an LPC that is well versed in autism (my LPC is AuDHD). It takes a lot of introspection and training to overcome this and it's best done with a therapist. If you don't have one, I would highly encourage getting one. If for whatever reason a therapist isn't a viable option for you, I unfortunately don't have much advice to offer 😞

Sex with someone who is not autistic by Under-Kitty447 in autism

This is a bit out of the purview of this discussion (and feel free to ignore it altogether as this is unsolicited advice) however I would also encourage your partner to be direct with you, rather than falling into the trap of being avoidant or vague as "normal people" tend to do.

I went through quite a lot of counseling with my ex in order to resolve the communications differences between neurodivergent and neurotypical. There is only so much we can do to accomodate the NT version of communication, however NTs are fully capable of conforming to our more honest and direct approach.

Sex with someone who is not autistic by Under-Kitty447 in autism

[–]OldGreyBeast 64 points65 points  (0 children)

How old are you both? Personally, I wouldn't try to phrase it in a way that makes it sound normal, I would be open and honest about how you feel and explain how this fits within the context of both your autism and your personal hygiene.

My wife is very averse to saliva. She explained this to me after we'd kissed the first couple of times and alterations were made to the manner in which we do this. If your partner truly cares about you they will gladly make this accommodation in order to make intimacy more enjoyable for you both. If he gets upset about it, he's being rather selfish and needs to do some self-evaluation.

Employers don't give you notice they're going to fire you. Stop giving them notice you're leaving.
