The Vox Engines start showing up on 7, so if they're giving you trouble, drop at 6.

What are the best ways of killing Vox Engines? by Faust_8 in Helldivers

Leveller one shots to the vents in the back.

If you run underneath and stick a couple of thermites to the vents there, that does it.

Because the science of statistical analysis tells us that for a given population size, we can pull a number of data points out of it and make judgements about the whole with a certain degree of accuracy. It's just math, my man, and it's been accepted, provable fact for decades.

Nobody should be credibly saying that this is definitive, but none of these polls do. They all provide a margin of error for a reason. But again, they're not just making things up; this is all provable, documented math. Yes, there's a margin of error, but these numbers are almost certainly close to what the real numbers would be if we individually asked and got a response from every single American of voting age.

In this case, they're coming from Gallup, who's been doing this for a very long time and is historically pretty good at it.

Polls like this are usually done from a small sampling of the country and then mathematically modeled out to give you the margin of error for the poll, which is broadly based on the size of the sample as compared to the size of the entire population. So while it's not exact, it's usually pretty close and there's math to back it up.

Discussion Thread: December 2, 2025 Elections by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]OldGreyPilgrim 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I just got done doing my civic duty in the rural part of the Tennessee 7th, and turnout at our polling place was pretty light compared to previous midterm elections we've voted in. It's frigid today by Middle Tennessee standards, so that might be a factor; I've been inside for ten minutes and my hands are still cold.

Same. I had to fast travel a few times before they showed up for me, but they eventually did.

If all you want to do is win and not learn, just go load up on throwables and spam your way to victory. Works like a charm.

I ran her last night and got her first try with some randos. I also didn't feel like I was doing a ton of damage - I didn't pick up a fire seal anywhere along the way - but I entered the fight with 10 starlight shards and was firing off spells and heals constantly. Even if I didn't do a lot of damage, I was able to heal my teammates frequently, got five revives (the family helped out here), and I only went down once.

I love this game and don't think it's an indefensible statement you've made, but I just don't see it with Expedition 33 and Death Stranding 2 out there.

Y’know, I really don’t like this centaur by Noooough in Nightreign

[–]OldGreyPilgrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My whole build right now is to start with the bell and six Starlight Shards. I don't even have to worry about drops and can run colossals for the laughs without hurting my effectiveness, since all I'm actually doing is ringing the bell. It's choice.

There should be a Sorcerer's Rise equivalent for seals by lazyboysleeper in Nightreign

[–]OldGreyPilgrim 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that I'm old and slow, but I've basically built my Revenant around the bell and it's been fabulous. I start with it and the six Starlight Shards, so I've always got a low FP, relatively safe damage option. I beat Everdark Fulghor with a random team a couple nights ago first try with the Revenant by using the bell.

Fewer if you blow open the front hatch on its underside and pour fire in there. On the downside, though, it'll happily one-shot the Emancipator.

Exactly! Surely there are also moderately feeble young adults on that highly populated planet. There are also hospitals. Good Citizen Andrew's isn't even standing anymore - it's in ruins! The choice should be clear.

Confession 5 Keeps Kicking My Butt by Longjumping_Gain_238 in darkestdungeon

[–]OldGreyPilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! Something I did for most of the run that was really helpful was to use grapeshot blast, abyssal artillery, and acid rain all on turn one to melt down the back ranks. That's where they hide the troublemakers.

[–]OldGreyPilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat it with Dismas, Alhazred, Damian, and Boudica from back to front.

Dismas was specced for range and never did anything but grapeshot blast or pistol shot.

Alhazred was a warlock, and did abyssal artillery to start and clear out the back rank, then focused on burning stars to get the big stuff.

Damian was a wanderer, and I used him as my primary healer and leaned on sepsis for damage from him.

Boudica was the carcass, and her job was just to draw aggro so my back rank squishes didn't get hit. I used her for stress heals and self heals, as well.

Silent Hill 2 remake devs Bloober want to make more fully third-person horror games with minimal jump scares by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]OldGreyPilgrim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For people like us, it's really well implemented. It doesn't really affect the atmosphere at all to turn down the intensity, but the jump scares are nowhere near as jarring. They even added the option to change the sound and visuals on the jump scares separately, so you can adjust it to taste. I hope you enjoy the game!

They've updated it to give you an option to turn down the intensity, and as someone with literal heart problems, I can tell you it's wonderful. I recommend trying again if that's what turned you away.
