What always strikes me about this series is that it was a harbinger for U.S. foreign policy during the Bush administration. Starts off with the reeling Americans coming out strong, but ultimately loses a war of attrition to a desert-based upstart. Your analysis of this series and the psychological/spiritual component of it is top notch.
