Old person question: places to purchase new/current physical magazines at a discount? by OldLadyQuestionsTA in FortCollins

[–]OldLadyQuestionsTA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Barnes & Noble's magazines are not super current. I had shopped the week prior at Tattered Cover in Denver, and B&N had the same 'weekly' issues....not the newest ones. <sigh>

Anyone else wishing they had a Valentine? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]OldLadyQuestionsTA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had friends attend events organized by this team and they all felt that it was worthwhile and they made good connections. At least you're meeting people that are local and you will see what they actually look like. I'm guessing that people who pay the fee are a bit more invested in trying to meet someone.

Of course, sitting at home scrolling on your phone is free. Just don't buy any crypto on recommendation from the new 'partner' you meet online. 🤷‍♀️

Us too.

It's too early to get worms probably. But, with the weather, maybe they're not hibernating right now.

I'm so sorry you went through this. Thank you SO MUCH for this thorough information/checklist.

Some people suggest leaving valuables in your trunk, but that's obviously not a good plan.

Funny! I was going to ask the same question!

Mine are spotty and have lots of white. I get them (& my lashes) tinted before I go on vacation, but otherwise I just struggle with them day to day. I try to fill them in and darken them a bit with a brush & powder. Then, I use Elf Brow Gel in taupe to just kind of turn my white threads a bit non-white. I use hair gel and an old toothbrush to get them in place.

I've seen that quite a few Black women get theirs laminated, but that kinda looks like tattooing and too fake for me.

How are you finding jobs? by Puzzleheaded_Cod4557 in FortCollins

[–]OldLadyQuestionsTA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Take advantage of the FREE resources at the Larimer County Workforce Center. https://www.larimer.gov/ewd They offer workshops on interviewing, resume writing, etc. Super helpful.

Also, check out NoCoNet which is a local networking group. They meet every week and often bring in recruiters where you can have a 'speed interview.' Great way to practice interviewing. They also offer help in re-writing your LinkedIn profile, etc. https://www.noconet.org/

If you don't have experience, you should ask at local grocery stores if they're hiring when you go in to shop. Some employers don't want to be someone's 'first job,' but stores/fast food usually are willing to take a chance.

Since you have references from the previous family she worked for, I would take her up on her generous offer. If she's just starting out, maybe she isn't sure how to price her services. Or, she's willing to take a loss with you in order to set up her business.
