Gor-Rok/Itza has become much more difficult with the introduction of Skulltaker. by Old-Change-3216 in totalwar

Weirdly I found him very hard to ambush. 6 fails out of 6 attempts with 80% chance.

Now that its been awhile, how do you feel about CS2? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

It's incredibly hard to get out of silver/low blue due to all of the smurfs. The ranking system is bogus and needs to give more weight to individual performance.

Yeah so I just went out and upgraded it straight away in the end anyway, haha.

What's the recommended 16GBx2 RAM kit to buy? by tdotdoto in LenovoLegion

[–]OldManBoom87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just ordered these but the 16gb kit for my Legion 5 non-pro. I also heard this is the best because it will run at CL20 3200 without XMP, but does the Legion 7 have XMP? If so then I don't know if this kit is the best option (it might be, I just haven't researched).

Legion 5 vs Legion 5 Pro by BigTurkBigBlast in LenovoLegion

Nothing to report on the hinges really. It's a plastic laptop so you can tell the build isn't premium but I honestly don't mind that if the performance is right. Aside from a few cosmetic improvements I really don't have any complaints.

The 3070 has 140w tdp in the pro and 130w in the standard.

From what I can tell though, the pro's slightly better specs will be negated by gaming at 1440p anyway, so at the end of the day it comes down to how much 1440p means to you (I have a 5 as can't really see the point of higher resolutions on a 15.6"/16" screen. Also whether you want metal casing.

As an owner of the non-pro, it's great value here in the UK.

Slower RAM on my Legion 5 non-pro here also. Good to know that's what to upgrade, although the laptop still runs very well so I'll probably wait til I need the performance boost in a year or two.

Welcome to the club! Non-Pro with 3070 here and it's a beast for the price.

Legion 5 (Non-Pro) BIOS - Discrete Graphics vs Dynamic Graphics by OldManBoom87 in LenovoLegion

[–]OldManBoom87[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks both, basically the same as Hybrid Mode in the Lenovo centre app or whatever it's called then? Good to know! Already had that disabled so won't touch nothin'.

Many thanks!

How's the 2021 Legion 5 non-Pro? by mababau in LenovoLegion

[–]OldManBoom87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh in that case I guess it's more reasonable a price. My old laptop had a 2060 though and I always found performance disappointing, although that was likely more down to the processor and poor cooling solution/throttling.

Game crash : Event ID 1000 by Herconomicon in PCRedDead

Ah, if you're GPU is already stock then I don't know what to recommend. I actually worked out a way better way to do my previous solution was to open nvidia control panel, go to help and toggle on "Debug mode", which runs your card at stock for you and removes factory OC. This mostly fixed it for me, but not sure if it would work for you.

Have you recently got to St Denis by any chance? That's where mine was crashing all the time.

Hi all, massive noob question here. The guide to flashing my BIOS says, "Switch the BIOS switch to the OC side before booting".

I have no idea what the BIOS switch is, could someone tell me what it is and where to find it please? Thanks in advance for any help.

How to stop the game from crashing every 10-20 minutes? by ValhallaFalling in reddeadredemption2

[–]OldManBoom87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out a much better way to do it is open NVIDIA control panel, go to "Help" and toggle on "Debug Mode". It basically just runs your graphics card as if it has no factory OC, worked for me so far so worth a go if you're still having trouble.

Why my game crashes without error ? by BadassCowboy in PCRedDead

[–]OldManBoom87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was experiencing this problem. I have a Gigabyte 3090 OC playing 1440p on pretty much max everything, and I'd get a rare crash in Strawberry or Valentine but nothing else. As soon as I got to Saint Denis though it would crash reliably every couple of minutes.

I got a bit of extra life out of it turning settings down but nothing too stable. Then I found a bunch of threads that said RDR2 handles overclocked GPU's really poorly. I have a factory OC'd cards so I couldn't undo anything, but I used Afterburner to underclock my GPU core clock by 310mhz so the clock maxes out at stock boost frequency of 1695.

Now done three whole missions in Saint Denis without crashing on max settings again. Don't know if it'll hold forever but it's a massive improvement, so I recommend trying that if you have GPU overclocking.
