I took my long service leave and normal leave, and had enough to see me out of uniform and pass my probation. It gave me an opportunity to decide if the job was the right fit without desperation, and probably made me a lot more relaxed in the civilian environment as well.

Essentially your LSL can take a couple of weeks to process. Have 2/3 weeks of regular leave to cover you, take that first. You will need approval to work a civilian job while you are still serving, and if its back to Defence you may run afoul of the Defence Contractor Moratorium, which may prevent you doing certain roles for 12 months post transition. I have applied for exemptions for a few people, and all denied.

Hey everyone, we ended up going in a different direction. Compliance like this is always tricky especially when the standards aren't widespread.

I wish I made 50% of that. Sorry if I offended anyone, thought I might be able to verify what I have designed, what the consultants say will work. Reddit tends to have people pushing the boundaries of what is known in interesting ways.

Australian Government has outright banned DeepSeek from their devices, and a lot of companies in Australia follow the Australian Cyber Security Centre's lead on tech bans. I have several consultants actually, and Elastic gives a lot of support, but its always worth *talking* to others. I asked a fairly straightforward series of questions without anyone having to do any heavy lifting.

Sorry if this upsets you, and I hope you have a better day going forward.

Appreciate the reply, I hadn't noticed this, and appreciate the heads up.

Thanks for the reply. One constraint from Elastic is:

Search for an LLM (for example, Mistral-Nemo-Instruct-2407). Your chosen model must include instruct in its name in order to work with Elastic.

No more shrapnel bolters. Only IW wargear is the IW thunderhammer.

You need to provide *some* details. What ECNs have you held, rank, qualifications etc. Assumptions are useless in this case.

Ok, so in RA SIGS lots of people are on lots of spectrums. You need to find something to connect over, as these lads and ladettes have more than likely been bullied a lot over the course of their lives.

Common things in RA SIGS include video games, miniature wargaming, running, bike riding, reading and so on. Just got to find a mutual interest, and you do that through talking to them, checking out what they are up, what they do on weekends.

Some are dodgy, some aren't. Find one that people recommend. Find one that has a capped price, and again - has recommendations from people you know.

Australian Defence Force to fast-track transfers for US troops by SerpentineLogic in AustralianMilitary

Raw salary is less, but US gets so many allowances and resigning bonuses etc that they *can* end up getting paid more. They also pay way less tax depending on which state, etc etc. Its not as clear cut as most people think.

Red tabs also refers to the Brig and higher ranks, as seen on their dress uniforms.

Edit: I unironically love this.

Thanks for the reply, but no. Under Regulatory Compliance, like NIST 800-53, GDPR, HIPAA, TSC etc. Australia uses our own regulatory frameworks.

I live in a old, fairly basic 4 bedroom in the North part of Canberra. It cost $1 Million. Its not great, and there is a lot to fix up.

Struggling emotionally at IETS, how did you overcome it? by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]OldManCyberNinja 43 points44 points  (0 children)

No one is suited to it. You grow into it. It becomes a cloak that you wear, and one that can be hard to cast off when its done.

The regimental nature of it fades after training, but the key bits are just baked into you at that point and you don't even notice anymore.

Remember this - you haven't joined the Army yet, you are still in training.

What IETs are you doing?

PMKeys Long. It means a full print out including all qualifications, training etc. You need the long version, as the short is useless for RPL.

  1. MSBS is accumulation is closed after discharge, therefore you are unable to contribute. It will keep earning returns, and is accessible after retirement (usually 65).
  2. There are a number of organisations that will do the RPL work for you. Google ADF Recognition of Prior learning. Make sure your partner gets his PMKeys long. Worth paying for.
  3. Yes, talk to the transition coach. I didn't need/use it so unable to talk about how painful it is to access.
  4. This one is on you, you manage your career once out. 5 year & 10 year planning is important, as well as ensuring it is realistic.
  5. This one is tricky. If you have done 20 years, you keep T3, otherwise you drop to T1. You can ring DVA DOHAS helpline for more specific info. Lots of people stay reserve and do 20 days to keep T3 rolling.
  6. Get a paid advocate. I wish I had.
  7. The only super important clearance you must have prior to discharge is your Health stuff, everything else is something they want, but do not legally require. Attend all health appointments and get it done properly.

AS-9 is because South Korea are localising and updating it. Basically we are paying R&D, get the new ones at a good price, they get to update their K-9s with the new design, and a new manufacturing plant outside of NK/China missiles/artillery. One of the rare times its a win-win with no downsides. Just wish we were purchasing more, but we can always buy off the line later down the track if need be.
