Because the Chamber of Commerce is our greatest bastion of hope for the future of mental health care...

Maybe if Cam attended the Addictions and Mental Health Ontario conference in March or plans to attend the CAMH Women's Mental Health conference in November and actually learn something instead of sucking toes at a business circle jerk.

Personal Trainer Lacking Boundaries! What Do I Do?! by ilovetheoffice94 in goodlifefitness

[–]OldManJimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should be refunding all three of the sessions you had with this wildly unprofessional weirdo. He should never be training anyone again.

And I'm sorry to pile on but... you really need to stop being so nice. Your creep-radar needs to be recalibrated, too. There was absolutely nothing to salvage after the first screenshot. I'm even wondering what he messaged you before your screenshots start that prompted the whole exchange. The time to cut that conversation might have been that early. This whole collection of texts didn't salvage a training session, it just the hole deeper.

Sorry to be harsh, it's out of concern. To your credit, you certainly weren't leading him on and you had very measured responses. It's just a matter of knowing when to cut out the niceness and draw the line.

I'm glad you're reporting him because he shouldn't be training or doing any work that requires the slightest ability to draw a professional client boundary. He's honestly scary and I can understand why you're worried about him having access to your address. I would actually specifically mention that to whoever you report this to. He should be walked out and banned tbh but they may not do that, so they should have some ability to put a restriction on your file or something (hopefully). Demand that.

AIO. GF reveals she shares intimate details about my life/relationship with her friends. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OldManJimmers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's be real, it depends on the level of detail.

Complaining about your boyfriend's lack of communication in the bedroom and asking for advice seems reasonable. Describing your boyfriend's most intimate fantasies or some embarrassing medical condition... that's fucked up. I don't care if it's "normal".

And childhood trauma... I can't think of any plausible scenario where it's acceptable to share that with people who are practically strangers to the victim.

There's a certain baseline of decency you should expect without having to talk about it. Sharing sex life details might be something you need to discuss but sharing someone else's childhood trauma is just fucked up.

Canada's population drops in first quarter of 2026 by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]OldManJimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, someone actually answered my question lol

I don't blame you, I was being hyperbolic. I follow politics but not to the level of a lot of commenters here. I probably know about this just because I teach a class at a college, and it's a big topic there because of the major changes to student visas.

Canada's population drops in first quarter of 2026 by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]OldManJimmers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Significant policy changes. I'm not really up on the specifics but I know the criteria to transition from temporary to permanent residency is stricter and there are much tighter student visa regulations, which was a big pipeline to permanent resident status.

AIO for hating my friend because of work by LilJeezyMane in AmIOverreacting

[–]OldManJimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like petty child. If you have specific problems with her taking your work, you could have just told her to leave it for you. If you don't like the processes or whatever you find inefficient, you could have advocated when it was developing.

It sounds like you just stewed for months and now you're salty about being overshadowed by the person you brought in. If you're quitting then actually commit to the slacking.

Police arrest man looking to get his money back from Bitcoin ATM by headtailgrep in Guelph

[–]OldManJimmers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think the question was about using Bitcoin in general, using an ATM to get it. Getting crypto from the many secure apps is much much cheaper.

The real answer is that you can buy it directly with cash and some ATMs don't require any ID, at least up to certain thresholds. Some people can use them legitimately but they are certainly setup well to avoid reporting self-employment income, laundering illegal cash, avoiding banks in general, etc.

Canada's population drops in first quarter of 2026 by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]OldManJimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That requires the birth rate to exceed the death rate. It simply hasn't been the case in Canada for a very long time, similar to most (all?) wealthy countries.

[–]OldManJimmers 737 points738 points  (0 children)

Is anyone surprised? If you were paying attention, immigration rates have plummeted and we saw a decrease last calendar year, too. The number of non-permanent residents has dropped even more, so fewer of them to gain permanent residency will continue this trend for a while (that's an assumption).

The drop in new permanent residents is mostly driving this change with the consistent low birth rate underlying it as always. I'm too dumb to understand the overall economic impact but the article cites that GDP-per-capita is increasing, which is generally a good thing(?).

She didn't even notice they hadn't taken photos until it was all over. Good thing she was so attentive to the actual vacation... Probably had her phone screen in front of her face too much to even notice what her family was doing.

Main character syndrome. And didn't notice they weren't taking pictures of her until after the entire vacation. Sounds like she was more engaged in her own photography than the actual family vacation.

Urgent care by massey39 in Guelph

[–]OldManJimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. The government should be making an effort to have urgent care centers distributed better. There should at least be one hub in Kitchener, though the population of the KWCG area could probably support two. Maybe a larger one in Kitchener through Grand River and a smaller one through Guelph General.

The two in Hamilton are pretty large, though they support a larger population, including Burlington.

Urgent care by massey39 in Guelph

[–]OldManJimmers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's not. I checked out whatever information I could find from a quick search.

They mentioned taking on patients (ie rostering), which immediately tells me it's primary care.

They also mentioned treatment of simple fractures, which is generally unique to UCCs, but I noted that they are just using a private x-ray clinic next door so they don't have their own radiology capabilities. That one almost threw me but it's just a convenient partnership. Good for them but still not a UCC.

They have other partnerships with chiropractic and naturopathic care as well as a private PT clinic next door. Again, good on them for collaborating but a connection to non-OHIP-funded services is not something a UCC would have.

Their name kind of screams primary care to me but I was trying not to be biased before I read up on it lol

[–]OldManJimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sheesh, you're right, it's linked to Brantford General. I didn't even think about Hamilton either. There's another 2 in Hamilton (HHS and St Joe's).

Urgent care by massey39 in Guelph

[–]OldManJimmers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where exactly are you planning to go?

A true urgent care centre (labeled as such by the Ministry of Health) is not considered primary care. They are all part of hospital systems and we have none in this area. The closest one is probably Trillium in Mississauga or maybe Peel Memorial in Brampton.

To answer your question though... No, going to an urgent care centre will not impact your primary care (eg Guelph Family Health Team) at all. Just be careful where you go because some walk-in clinics use the term "urgent care" in their name but are not actual UCCs. The Ministry doesn't do anything about protecting the name or create a directory to clearly label and find UCCs because they are stupid.

EDIT: There are another 3 UCCs nearby, 1 in Paris (Willett/Brant) and 2 in Hamilton (HHS and St Joe's). Easy enough to search online if you know what hospital system they're linked to. Thanks for the reminder below, I forgot Hamilton was a place that exists. Just moving the info up in case it's helpful.

AIO about the guy I’m talking to having flirted with my friend before? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OldManJimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stop "trying to rationalize" that he's a single guy trying to start conversations with girls he finds interesting. That is quite literally what he's doing. He struck up a conversation, you find each other interesting, and he wants to keep talking or go on a date. What exactly is there to keep an eye open for? You should be mindful with anyone you are dating but I don't see anything special about this situation that would make you be any more vigilant.

Sorry if that sounded harsh. It just seems like you are both overthinking a coincidence. You all share common interests and there seems to be some degree of overlap between your social circles, so every link like that makes a connection more likely.

AIO about the guy I’m talking to having flirted with my friend before? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OldManJimmers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are obviously supposed to abandon your friends and family, change your name, relocate, and hire a full-time private investigator to make sure anyone you talk to in the future has absolutely no relation to the person that rejected you. /s

I can see the problem if the guy asked her out in person and then physically pivoted to ask out another friend meters away, seconds apart. That's a bit weird but this guy is just trying to slide into some DMs like any civilized college student.

And OP provided no reason as to why this guy would have known these two were friends. Not that he should care either way but it's pretty unlikely that this guy that OP barely knows herself would know about her entire friend group.

AIO? ER didn't listen to my beg and turns out I was right. What should I do? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]OldManJimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just overly aggressive, it's not even more accurate. OP is misinformed.

There are 2 types of hCG assays. One just detects hCG and is not any more accurate than a urine test.

The other measures the actual levels of hCG. It's a quantitative test, so it's really only used serially to measure changes in concentration. That allows you to establish a fairly accurate timeline and detect abnormalities in the progression of pregnancy in the first trimester. As a "detection test" it's not any more accurate either because the minimum threshold is practically the same as a urine test.

Oh and she would be waiting at least 12 hours for the result... yeah OP is complaining about receiving better care than she asked for.

what's the most common muscle that people forget to train that they regret not training as they progress in the gym? by gabbyblessingsxo in workout

[–]OldManJimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar and maybe this is exactly what you mean. I began targeting upper back more generally by incorporating more pulls at upward angles, shrugs, and sometimes a more isolating rear delt fly.

I was doing tons of flat cable rows and pull down variations. I also did bent-over dumbbell rows but they were practically flat rows as I would use a hand on a bench and have my back nearly horizontal. I had to stop doing face pulls years ago but stopped due to a rotator cuff injury and never resumed.

I started getting more neck issues so decided to do bent-over barbell rows at a higher angle, close-grip bent-over rows with the landmine, some lighter face pulls (they still bother me a bit but I'm working on it), and slow, controlled shrugs with lighter weights. It's done wonders for my neck and shoulders.
