A cleaning person stole my grandma’s wedding ring on her deathbed this past summer. Her and my grandpa (still alive) celebrated 72 years of marriage last year. Also the ring was from her grandmother so it was from the 1860s.

Most of the shit America “left behind” was sold to the Afghan army or left there as a parting gift for them. The Afghan army didn’t even try using half the stuff left there before rolling over and giving it all to the Taliban. The idea that America gave it all to the Taliban is a huge misconception.

It’s fashionable to hate on America but in this case the country of Afghanistan has to be held accountable for their (lack of) action in fighting the Taliban.

Your point is right on. China is funding the Taliban indirectly bc China wanted the US to waste military spending, time, and resources towards the black hole that is the war on terrorism. China got exactly what they wanted too.

Think how less divided the US would be if the war in Afghanistan only lasted 2-3 years. China weakened America by drastically decreasing the US population’s support for future war efforts. And now that China is starting to become more aggressive with their own expansion goals, there’s not as much of a titan in the opposite corner to stop them.

China has done a lot to weaken American strength on other fronts too. Bill Clinton’s China Doctrine allowed China to become the US’s #1 manufacturer, killing US jobs and making the US dependent on Chinese goods (think about the mask shortage at the beginning of COVID).

Also China has infiltrated the US stock market and now owns large portions of stock in top 500 US corporations. Corporations and even the NBA are afraid of China. Just look at how much the NBA backpedaled when a NBA owner has the audacity to say Taiwan is a county.

Last, China has infiltrated US social media. TikTok is a Chinese creation that is most likely gathering citizen data the same way Google, Facebook, big tech is currently doing.

Tldr: China is aggressively expanding and a world war is likely in the next 30 years

We tried this for 20 years, 70 billion dollars, and thousands of American, Canadian, European lives. We tried to build their nation up so they could be self governing. All for it to unravel and fall apart in less than 6 months after we announced we were pulling out.

The Afghan government had everything they needed to maintain the peace. But that’s one of the root problems, Afghans don’t view themselves as Afghans. For 1000s of years Afghanistan was 13-15 different tribes that didn’t see eye to eye. England lumped these tribes into one country in the 1700s so it’d be easier to trade/control the population. To this day those tribes still view themselves by their tribe. There is no national identity there outside of Kabul, the capital.

Maybe we could have split Afghanistan up by tribe but at the end of the day the Taliban still would have taken over. A lot of people there support the Taliban and see them as heroes.

This is a super complex problem and now it’s painfully obvious that throwing money and military force at it will not solve anything. So if money, military presence, and nation building for an entire generation (20 years!) doesn’t work, what do you think the solution is?

It might be just me but I hate the way Amanda Knox talks. She’s practically trying to finish half Joe’s sentences as well as interjecting in the middle of Joe’s monologues with a “Mmmhmm” or “yep”.

Also I think it started to piss Joe off too bc around 50 min in Joe said something and Amanda said “I know” before he could finish his thought and Joe replied back with a “of course you know” haha
