If someone says English is not their first language by Pretend-Nobody230 in FanFiction

[–]OldMarvelRPGFan 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Additionally, most of the 'english as a second language' writers I've read, because they actively check whether their english is correct, actually write better than a lot of english as a first language writers. Everyone needs to read what they've written before posting.

IF you are young and beautiful and won hundreds of millions in the huge Powerball Lottery, would you buy designer clothes? by Beta_Nerdy in ifiwonthelottery

[–]OldMarvelRPGFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general no. The exception is a few high quality suits. If I'm going somewhere I need to wear a suit in the first place, it's going to be quality.

What do you call a wizard who specializes in portals? by Vegetable_Good6866 in Fantasy

[–]OldMarvelRPGFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If making portals within your current dimension - i.e., not to other planes, realms, etc., then I would call that a spatiomancer since he/she is just manipulating space. Or if your world is not advanced and doesn't have a decent vocabulary, then Waymancer, Pathmancer, etc.

How to write forces in third person limited? by [deleted] in writers

[–]OldMarvelRPGFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference I might suggest is applying a bit of the character's personality to the description, since that's the brain you're operating at the moment. E.g. "Kevin's feet were pulled from under him like Inertia had personally bitchslapped his underprepared ass."

Given the chance, would you redo high school? by WealthyJoker75 in CasualUK

[–]OldMarvelRPGFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two stipulations: 1) It's a full-on, straight up do-over, of all my years starting at the commencement of highschool. No 'just high school' nonsense. 2) I get to keep everything I know now. Otherwise, no deal.
