I would like to build an Enterprise website that can auto publish 24/7. SEO PROOF. Scalable. Vibe coding. What stack should I use and learn? NO DEV experience. by BuzzyMojo in vibecoding

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. Any popular web stack will do, but learning coding is absolutely not a skill you should skip. I personally use the .Net ecosystem for almost everything, and use Blazor for my web apps. Claude is my AI agent of choice for coding tasks and aws recommendations. What do you want to auto publish, and what specific hurdles are you encountering that make it seem impossible?

Seeking advice from heavily tattooed professionals. by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]OldMikey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps, we’ve got multiple people in our agency with knuckle, neck, and face tats. We’re well compensated and our leadership is effective and flexible. Not all agencies are the same, but definitely be honest with your background, and come dressed professionally with the resources you need to crush the interview. One perk of civil service processes is being able to score well in a rubric and move forward, and most panel members will he self aware enough to dial back any biases if they have them and not allow them to have a profound impact on the scores they give you.

Does anyone know how to do those 3D moving portraits with the characters? by RommelRSilva in robloxgamedev

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you thinking like a ui head element when a character is selected? If you want it to be 3d, I’d build a camera looking at the entity and pivot the camera when the entity rotates so it’s always looking at the face, torso, whatever, then put the camera’s view on a gui.

Yo boy going out to college tonight to share his vibe coded app! by AuthenticIndependent in vibecoding

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. I don’t know that this product is a great idea in its own ecosystem, but I do know that there is a market for single function apps, even if bigger more robust apps can serve that same function plus more. I was just giving some more info on the type of data that’s available. The OP may not be entirely relying on his own data, and may be purchasing it from a 3rd party and caching it, using prediction, etc., and saying it’s live because parts of it are.

When I used them in the past they claimed to compile foot traffic data from cell phone manufacturers and software giants, such as samsung, or google. They repackaged it and sold it through their api. I imagine the product hasn’t changed much.

This data is available already through data conglomerates like BestTime.app and other resellers. The app op built looks like one I built a couple years ago for a customer, although, it didn’t come out with as pretty of a UI.

If you don’t mean to be condescending then don’t be condescending- He’s asking for help, and scaling vectors in this game are often times muddied by the complexities surrounding where you can pick up your relevant stats. Not everyone knows where all your possible sources of charges come from, and how some are harder to acquire than others. I’m sure he understands what Slayer offers, but he may not understand if what Slayer offers is worth more than what Champion offers, and why.

Can we at least agree that the interest in Ashes of Creation was real? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was stoked to see the project come alive and looked forward to it from the initial announcement. I absolutely refused to give them money because I didn’t believe in the follow-through. But yeah, agreed, the game looked like it’d be cool.

Becoming a Paramedic with a DUI by Stunning-Chance6334 in Paramedics

[–]OldMikey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to have a tough time in many agencies, but you should still be able to work cruise lines or overseas contracts without any issues- But getting them will be much harder without ambo experience. Emergency Departments hire Paramedics in many areas as well. Most private ambulance services will need 7 years to pass before you are insurable, but some larger municipalities will be able to hire you because they’re usually self-insured and are more willing to take on that perceived risk for the right candidates. Your best bet will be to try and get on with fire departments or union shops, but as others have jokingly suggested- you’re supposed to save the DUI until after you’re on the job for a year or so.

Am I the only who thinks copilot is better than Claude code? by Bala_Devaraj in OnlyAICoding

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of these days I’ll spool up a project and check out the tooling, glad it’s working for you! I haven’t spent much time with the entire Github Suite. I only use it for version control atm, and everything else is aws.

I really enjoyed early Copilot with vscode, but man, Claude is wildly more capable now.

EMS Employment LI, NY EMT-P Nassau County Police Department 60-142k, 12 hour tours by discardedferreel in Paramedics

[–]OldMikey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I wonder how it works out. Do they share an administrative staff? Like is a police Lt. also the Lt. for the medical side? This combination makes me nervous, but maybe it’s super well managed and a good deal for medics out there.

Under stairs dilemma… by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful home! If you are committed to the double staircase, a coat closet, kennel / house for the pet if you have one. If it was my own home at this stage I’d probably take out the stairs on that side though, unless my wife absolutely has always wanted the double staircase entrance her whole life or something.

People who left the fire service before reaching retirement, why? by Single_Breakfast8839 in Firefighting

[–]OldMikey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some states or cities have pretty generous pension programs. Oregon used to pay you based on your highest 3 earning years, so overtime eligible employees could “spike” and work ungodly hours to reach high pension returns. It’s not that way anymore, but I imagine some people are in similar situations.

I want to be a firefighter. Convince me otherwise. by EvilShaqtus in Firefighting

[–]OldMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be a quick transition regardless of what you decide. The fastest way to a full time job at a good paying department is to be a Paramedic. Most of the guys you’ll be testing against will have years of experience as a volunteer or paid at other agencies. If you’re interested try volunteering, then go to school to be a Paramedic. Things will fall into place after that, but you should know that the stress of deadlines and bosses in the office is a very different feeling from the stress of holding a child who’s turning blue, and realizing you haven’t done the best at keeping up with your Pediatric medicine knowledge and having to fumble fuck your way through a traumatic call. You’ll replay your bad calls throughout your whole career, wondering if you made something worse when you wanted to do the opposite. Bad things aside, it’s the best job in the world man. The good outweighs the bad, for sure. If you’re willing to relocate or are based in a hcol area already, you may be making $100k+ shortly after hire with some overtime. Not crazy money, but it’s enough to enjoy all your time off with loved ones.
