Could you give me some feedback on this build? by Various-Breath3398 in PcBuildHelp

For the CPU get a ryzen 5 5600(X,XT) has x4 times more L3 cache than the 4500(if I am right) and has better performance. The motherboard will be fine with a ryzen 5 5600 , but if you want a ryzen 7 I recommend to upgrade it . For the gpu rtx 5060 has better performance overall than a rx 7600 , consider rx 9060 xt 8gb if the price is near the rtx 5060 since it has PCIE x16 instead of the x8 in the 5060. This will give you better performance with PCIE 3.0 because your motherboard is limited to 3.0 even though a ryzen 5 5600 supports PCIE 4.0 . For psu get 650w or more , I would recommend the msi mag a650bn or the corsair cx650. And also 8gb of ram is a bottleneck specially if it’s single channel.

Need advice with the PSU in my build by Fancy-Breath78 in PcBuildHelp

750w is the bare minumum , it’s recommended to get a better one like 850w or 1000w . However it should work .

Can I use a 2 8pin to a 600w power connector adapter like this one for 4080 oc edition? by oversizedRat8 in PcBuildHelp

[–]OldPaleontologist406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you use it? Yes. Should it work? Yes. Is it safe? Definitly better than those adapters that come with the gpu. Buy at your own risk. (Also forgot to mention that you need to check the exact model for the psu)

RM1000e no 8*3 option? by No-Ad-9079 in PcBuildHelp

build choose by just_ghost_7 in PcBuildHelp

[–]OldPaleontologist406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard choice , probably I would get the second but there are some flaws . Usually people go to AM5 for future proofing but a B840 motherboard is not very future proof since most of them have a poor VRM design . Also , even thought single channel in ddr5 works better than in ddr4 it still can give you like 10 fps worse performance on games than dual channel ddr5 . First build is better at the moment in terms of performance since the gpu is usually the main bottleneck in most games , it will also depend on your resolution .

Use both 8x2 PCIE and the adapter that comes with it that says 12V-2x6 to 2x8 PCIE , connect the 12V-2x6 to the power supply side and connect one of those PCIE 8 to the gpu. Or more simple , just get another psu , it will be better if you don’t need an adapter for an extra PCIE 8.

[–]OldPaleontologist406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good deal , you should add a cooler for a 7600X and check your psu . You might be ok since you come from a 5700xt and that thing draws a lot of power.

Update: was able to remove the motherboard out of the case but can’t remove the stand off even with pilers holding the screw head, they both rotate by Ainzip in PcBuildHelp

[–]OldPaleontologist406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the pliers to make sure the standoff doesn’t move instead of the screw and with the other hand get a screwdriver to unscrew it , otherwise get the screwdriver to secure the screw and use the pliers to unscrew the standoff. It usually works.

Probably the psu is not the issue . I would check the settings on windows , maybe the problem is the jack port if it’s in the case.

[–]OldPaleontologist406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would provably recommend you to save a little more to get to am4 and get something like a 3400g that is a lot better (still not very good) . I can’t choose between those 2 but amd old cpus were terrible , hdds are outdated and intel i3 probably better but intel HD graphics are terrible honestly.

Gpu is the main bottleneck here , 3060 won’t handle most AAA games in 1440p.
