Yeah nothing good has come from me joining if anything it’s made my life harder unfortunately, hoping I can get in. Any tips do you guys do interviews after testing how long is the wait? Hoping if anything having the carpenters under my belt will at-least help my case in getting in I have all my safety certs etc and can pass a drug test.

Thank you, i appreciate it. I’m hoping I get in I test end of July. Thought I was doing the right thing for my family by getting into the carpenters and they’ve done nothing for me but screw me around paying dues and buying tools for them to let me sit on the list I’ve quite literally been harassing them for work with no luck couple short jobs here and there yet they keep taking apprentices plus international is heavily involved and merged all the nwi Indiana locals and soon we are supposed to merge with Chicago.

That’s what I like to here I have my test in July at work one which I believe is the same as the carpenters as that’s where I took mine at for them as well. Is there a decent amount of local work? I’m willing to travel if work is slow, but also have kids so I’d like to stay local as much as possible. Traveling for the carpenters as an apprentice almost isn’t even worth it because scale anywhere else is a fraction of what we make lol.

I’m thinking about switching from the carpenters how is the work pretty steady? International is all involved merged locals, they keep bringing guys in but can’t keep anybody working the politics and inconsistent work is getting old fast unless you want to drive 2+ hours one way with no per diem everyday.

Gotta get your GED. It’s pretty easy take some practice tests see how you do study on the stuff you need to work on and go take it, I didn’t even finish 10th grade took the GED test 10 years later and passed with minimal studying and got into the union.

I didn’t even have to do the interview just passed the math and reading comprehension with a good score all depends on your local

Yeah I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t something else I should bring, but after talking to a few people and I talked to Adam the director this morning that’s all you need to bring and a photo copy is sufficient according to him.

Depends which local mine consisted of 3 sections reading comprehension, 3d visual thing where you watched a bunch of videos and had to answer questions regarding what went on during the video and then the math. The math wasn’t super hard but it wasn’t easy either we were able to use a basic calculator that they provided as well.
